Chapter 5

Cinder POV

After everything that had happened that day, Cinder was probably more excited than she should have been to get on the bus. But in retrospect it made sense, there was no Levana on her bus and her best friend Iko, who she hadn't seen all day, was on her bus.

"OH MY STARS OH MY STARS CINDER I HEARD WHAT HAPPENED."

"Hey Iko," Cinder replied sighing,"what's up."

"What's up with me? What's up with you, are you ok?

"Yah"

"What does that mean."

"Iko, I honestly don't know anymore."

"Yikes, who sprinkled you with grumpy dust."

"Iko"

"Sorry, it's just you actually talked to him."

"I know," Cinder sighed, again.

"I mean you have had a crush on him since like the first grade."

"I just wish I could actually have a full conversation with him without being interrupted by Levana or anyone else for that matter."

"You deserve at least that much."

"Thanks Iko," Cinder said, looking at her friend with gratitude.

"Anyway," she said, changing the subject,"what are we going to do about Homecoming."

"What do you mean?"

"Well we have to get you on the ballot," she said, as if it was totally obvious.

"What!? No," Cinder exclaimed

"How else do you propose we get you to dance with Kai"

"Who said anything about dancing, I can't even dance"

"Cinder, honey, listen, if we are going to set you and Kai up, you need dance lessons"

"Ughhhhhh"

The bus pulled up to the curb at Cinder and Iko's stop.

"Come on grumpy pants let's go," Iko said pulling her bag over her shoulder.

"Fine," Cinder followed reluctanly

They stepped off the bus and it went speeding down the street

"Well he's a b-"

"Iko"

"Sorry," she said, a bit flustered

"Well I have a ton of homework so bye"

"I'm calling you later," she said as she started walking away.

"Ok see ya," Cinder called back as she turned to the direction of her own house and wondered what new horrors awaited her there.
