You're walking home from the corner store down the street to get some milk when you notice that your dog is outside in your yard, only you are positive you shut him in when you left.
"Rosco?" You enter the fence and close it behind you as the dog comes trotting to your side. "How the hell did you get out?" You pat the dog on the head and walk to the front door.
You find your front door unlocked and are starting to get a little worried.
"Rosco, go get em!" You snap and send Rosco in the house to find the intruder.
Rosco goes bolting inside the house at full speed and you walk in slowly after him. You hear a man yell and a small crash.
"Rosco! Down buddy!" You hear someone with a British accent yell and immediately realize who's in your home. "It's just me mate."
You round the corner to find Pete up on your kitchen counter as Rosco barks at him from the floor.
"Rosco, down boy. It's okay." You call the dog off with a small laugh. "Hey, Pete." You greet the Brit with a smile as Rosco trots off.
"Y/N, what are ya sending your dog after me for?" Pete hops off the counter. "He nearly ate me!"
"Oh no he didn't." You wave your hand. "Besides, I thought that you were an intruder breaking in." You explain and set your purse down on the counter.
"How would I have let Rosco out into the yard if he didn't know me?" Pete replies.
"True." You nod. "Sorry about that Pete. What are you doing here anyway?" You ask the Brit what exactly he's doing at your place.
"Well I was here looking for ya brother, but it seems he's not here." Pete refers to your older brother and Pete's new tag team partner, Matt.
"Matt?" You furrow your brows a bit. "Why would he be at my place?" You ask Pete with a raised brow.
"I don't know." Pete shrugs.
You let out a small chuckle, knowing exactly why Pete is claiming to be looking for your brother. You're pretty sure that he was looking to run into you and is just too stubborn to admit it.
"What are you laughing for?" Pete questions you.
"Oh, nothing." You shake your head lightly. "I just think it's cute is all." You giggle again and put your gallon of milk into the fridge.
"Think what's cute?" Pete questions you again.
"You." You reply simply. "I think you're cute, specifically the fact that you're totally using my brother as an excuse to come over to my place to see me." You shut the fridge and turn back to Pete.
"What?" Pete replies in a kind of sneer. "You're out of your mind woman." He waves his hand as if the idea is 100% not possible.
"Mhm." You hum and make your way to the back of the house to check Rosco's food and water with Pete trailing behind you.
"Look here!" Pete huffs as you ignore his reddening cheeks behind you. "I came looking for your brother, that's it." He insists.
"Sure ya did Pete." You nod and fill Rosco's water bowl up with the hose. "Whatever makes you sleep better at night."
You finish filling up Rosco's foo and water then make your way back inside the house with Pete at your side, that fact that he hasn't left yet just furthering your point.
"Pete, if you didn't come to hang out with me as you claim. Then why are you still here? Because it's evident that Matt isn't?" You ask Pete with a laugh and pour yourself a drink back in your kitchen.
"Because you're out here speaking nonsense and I'm trying to put a stop to it," Pete replies firmly.
"Well, I call bullshit, but yeah sure." You pat Pete on the shoulder and take a sip from your drink. "You're cute when you get all frustrated by the way." You add with another light laugh.
Pete sighs, knowing that he can't defeat you in this argument and finally heads off. A few minutes later you are scrolling through your tv channels when Matt shows up.
"Matt!" You greet your big bro with a smile when he steps into your living room. "Can I catch a break today? First Dunne, now you?" You laugh and motion for him to sit down.
"I thought that was Pete's car parked down the road." Matt sits down next to you. "What was he doing here?" He asks you.
"Well." You set the tv remote down since gossiping with your brother about his partner is way more entertaining than anything on tv. "He claims that he came over looking for you, but we both know that's pure fiction."
"Oh wow." Matt laughs with you and pats Rosco when he comes trotting up to the couch. "He's got it bad for you Y/N."
"Oh, I know." You nod your head with a grin. "You should have seen his face when I called him out on it, all cute and flustered."
"We need to get him to ask you out already." Matt nods his head. "I'm getting kind of tired of him pining after you when we're at work." He teases you.
"Hey! It's not my fault that Dunne has excellent taste." You shrug.
"Mhm." Matt shakes his head. "I've got an idea. You whip up a killer meal and I'll invite Pete over for dinner. When he gets here I'll ditch and you two can finally have a night." He explains.
"Sounds like a plan." You agree to go along with Matt's plan and head to the kitchen to see what you can make with what you've got.
Around an hour or so later you are putting the finishing touches on dinner when the doorbell rings. Matt goes and answers for you so you can finish up the food.
"Pete!" You flash Dunne a smile when him and Matt come into the kitchen. "Glad you could make it. I hope you like Mushroom Alfredo and garlic bread." You throw the lid off of the pot and fish a serving spoon out of your cupboard.
"It looks great." Pete takes a seat at your dining room table.
"It does." Matt nods with a grin. "Anyway, save me some will ya Y/N? I've gotta run." He nods to you and waves to Pete before he takes off out the front door.
"Well then." You shrug like it's no big deal. "Looks like it's just you and me then Pete, oh and Rosco." You nod to the dog sitting on his dog bed in the other room.
Pete loosens the collar of his shirt as you hand him a plate of food and then serve yourself a plate and take a seat in the empty chair across from him.
"I feel like I've been set up." Pete swallows hard and looks across the table at you.
"No clue what you mean." You reply with a grin.
"Yeah, sure." Pete shakes his head, cracking a smile. "I thought I was the one that was supposed to ask you out on a date?"
"Usually you would be." You reply casually. "But you were taking too long, so I figured I'd just step in and do it for you." You dig into your meal with your fork.
"A woman that takes charge, I like that." Pete picks up his fork as well.
"Stick around then Pete, you just might be surprised at all the other fun tricks I've got up my sleeve."
