---------------------------------------------------

You had known Lars since he had started working with Sadie. You had, of course, been cautious and protective of Sadie when you met him but eventually warmed up to him. Over time you had grown to like him, but when you and Sadie had a sleepover she had let it slip that she had the biggest crush on him. Instead of getting jealous however, you shoved your feeling down and put them in a jar. You had convinced yourself that she deserved to be happy and if she was happy with him, then dammit you were gonna be on the sidelines cheering her on. Though it did become a surprise when he came back from space pale pink in color ad a scar down his face. When they finally gathered enough courage to awkwardly ask each other out, you congratulated Sadie.

You couldn't help the pained feeling it left in you though as you saw them walk around town and on the beach, holding each others hands and kissing and going to the rides in Funland. You had sat for a few days mulling over the pain before being able to cope finally. When you had next seen Sadie and Lars they were coming to your house to invite you to go clubbing with them and their friend group. And your response? A forced smile and a loud "Hell yeah". You went, danced, and drank til you were black out drunk with your shirt being swung around on the dance floor. Sadie and Lars helped you home, where you stayed for a week, refusing to see anyone. It came down to Jenny have to drag you from your house to go out. She took you to a cliff her friends had gone to earlier that summer to meet up with Sour Cream and Buck. The flowers had bloomed and would be flying by dawn.

Your POV

I trudged up the hill to go find Sour Cream and Buck. Jenny said she needed to get something from her car. I reached the top and felt my blood grow cold and my face pale. Neither Sour Cream nor Buck was sitting there. A familiar pink floof waved in the wind as Lars turned around, his stunning smile catching me off guard.

"Hey (Y/n)!" He waved.

My mind blanked and I could still feel the anxiety rushing thought my body. I raised my hand in a small wave and got my bearings again, "Where's Sadie?" I asked with a light tone. I was getting too good at covering my feelings. He looked down, his smile lowered.

"We, uh, we broke up a couple of weeks ago. We realized that we had drifted and there had been too much that had happened to catch up," he looked back to me from the corner of his eye, "so i figured I needed a break and I wanted to try and catch up with you. It's been a while since we talked, yeah?"

I nodded, conflicted on whether to feel bad for them or good because I could finally reveal my feelings. He gestured to come sit by him. I made my way over slowly and placed myself next to him. We sat in silence as I studied the city and he studied the stars. After a while I broke the silence gently. "Did it end badly?" I turned my head slightly to face him as I questioned him.

He looked down at me, small smile still in play, "Nah, we broke up mutually. We're still friends and everything's cool. There just wasn't a connection anymore."

I nodded my head in understanding and went back to studying the thin expanse of sand and buildings again, though this time Lars leaned forward and gazed over as well. "The lights almost look like stars, don't they?"

I nodded my head and looked out onto the docks where the lights of Funland shone pink, blue, and yellow across the ocean and dock. The air grew awkward as we lost what we were going to say next. I began chuckling as I realizes we had finally reached the awkward stage of the night. He looked over at me, a bewildered smile across his face as he nervously asked, "What's so funny?"
