For those of you here strictly for the lemon, it's marked.

You had invited Courtney over to your house for a movie night. She had asked to bring a friend and you had trusted her and said sure. Emphasis on had. When she brought over her recent ex you nearly lost your shit. This mother fucker... She had said they broke up mutually but if you knew Courtney, she didn't just 'mutually' agree to anything unless it was being responsible. Duncan was the complete opposite of that. Reckless and constantly getting in trouble with a trust fund to get him out of jail everytime, he never had to take responsibility for anything in his life. Courtney had said he wasn't what he perceived but you really couldn't see past his shitty exterior.
As you angrily cleaned the living room in your pjs, you heard the doorbell ring. Growling at the thought of having to face this fucker and Courtney, you stomped to the door and made no attempt to hide the fact that you hated the other guest.
"Hey Courtney!" You hugged her enthusiastically, then turned to Duncan and spat his name like a poison on my tongue. A sneer met his cocky grin which in turn changed to a scowl.
"Duncan," I snarled.
"(Y/n)," he spat back.
"Fuck you," I growled before spinning on my heel to get the snacks and to finish opening Netflix. I heard muttering by the door as they stood there debating something in hushed whispers. I growled, my eye twitched as I put on a stern face and slammed the bowl of snacks on the coffee table.
"Could you fucking not? I prefer my house at the temperature it is, not the temperature outside," I scowled.
They shuffled inside and Courtney set her bag down, some clothes in hand. She excused herself to go get changed in the bathroom, leaving me and Duncan to glare at each other. The only expression I could muster was one of utter disgust. His expression was one of anger and annoyance.
"What the fuck is your problem with me?"
I squinted at him, astonished to say the least. I shook my head, "I've been friends with Courtney since I don't fucking remember, so I know damn well she doesn't let things go and she doesn't, 'break up with someone mutually'. That's just not how Courtney is. So you either fucked up severely or-"
"She broke up with me, on the grounds that she didnt feel anything for me anymore! Neither of us loved each other anymore! We dated for two years. Feelings can fucking change, jesus christ," he exclaimed.
I stood there, still not quite believing him. I glared into his eyes and it shocked me to see earnest exasperation. He's had to explain this before. Multiple times. I softened my expression and sighed, rubbing my temples and deciding. Deciding that maybe, just maybe, he honestly didn't do anything and Courtney broke up with him because neither of them held love for each other. I glanced past my hand to see him still standing there with an exasperated expression.
I let my hand flop to my side."Did you bring pjs?"
"I didn't anticipate staying."
I shook my head, "She didn't explain shit to you about these movie nights, did she?"
He shook his head, his green locks following the motion.
I turned and motioned him to follow me down the hall and to my bedroom.
He lingered awkwardly outside the doorway, unsure of whether to enter or not."Come in, I have to get you something to sleep in, cuz by the end of the night you won't be able to see straight."
He quirked an eyebrow, "what exactly are we doing?"
