Claire's POV

While the team was celebrating in the hot tub, I decided to go back to the cabin. After I walk in and close the door behind me, I slide the hood off my head, thinking I was alone. I go over and sit on my bunkbed, letting my thoughts wander. Before I get to lost in thought, I hear the cabin door open. I quickly pull the hood back over my head and turn to see who came in. I see Leshawna and Gwen walking towards me.

"Hey, girl. Why aren't you out there partying with us?" Leshawna questions.

In a small voice, I answer, "I've never been one to party."

Gwen looks at me for a moment before she looked like she made a decision. "Well," she starts, "I'm kind of tired anyways, mind if I hang in here with you?" She questions.

I think about it for I while. I'm scared, but I know I'll be really lonely if I have no one to talk to these next eight weeks. So, I make my decision. I look up at them, look Gwen in the eyes, and smile.

"Sure," I say.

They settle in and, although I didn't talk a whole lot, it was nice to be able to hang out with some friends.

-------------------------------------------------------

It's the next day and one of the days off we have before our next challenge. I wake up before everyone else, right as the sun comes up. i get dressed in ripped jeans and a yellow tank top with a gray jacket that had a hood. I put the hood up before I left the cabin, just in case I ran into anyone. I walked out into the woods, far enough that I knew no one else would wander this far and sat down. I took off the hood and jacket because I was getting warm and laid down in the grass, soaking up sun.

I don't know how long I stayed there, I must have fallen asleep because when I woke up the sun was high in the sky. I heard a twig snap from being stepped on and I whipped around to see it was Chris. Caught off-guard, I blushed at the fact that he caught me without me hoodie on, and the fact that I don't usually show this much skin.

"So this is where you've been," said Chris. You could almost see relief in his eyes, but my own might have been playing tricks on me. "I didn't see you this morning, so I was walking around to see if you were out here."

"Sorry," I said. "I fell asleep without realizing it."

"Do you mind if I sit with you?"

I shake my head no.

"So," he says, "what are you doing here all by your self?"

"I don't know, just getting away I guess."

"From what?"

I think about it. What am I trying to get away from? The campers? No, thats not right. The contest? No, thats not it either. "I'm not sure..."

"Well," he smiles at me, a genuine smile, "if you ever need to talk, I'm here."

I give him a true smile in return before we go back to camp and split up, the entire time forgetting to put my jacket back on.

Two Days Later.

Leshawna, Gwen, and I have all grown closer in the last few days and this morning is our next challenge. I was asleep in my bed when I hear an airhorn, then I hear a thud. I look over to see Leshawna hit her head on the top bunk. While she starts yelling at Chris, I start getting dressed. i put on a gray tank top, skinny jeans, and a maroon jacket on.

We all line up outside, waiting for Chris to tell us today's challenge.

"Morning. Hope you slept well," Chris said.

"Hi Chris. You look really buff in those shorts." Heather said. I'm not sure why, but her saying that got me kinda mad.

"I know," he said, winking at me, making me blush under my hood. "Okay, I hope you're all ready because your next challenge begins in exactly one minute."

"Oh! Excuse me! I don't know if thats enough time to eat breakfast," says Owen.

"Oh, you'll get breakfast Owen, right after you complete your 20 kilometer run around the lake." said Chris.

"Oh, so you're funny now," said Eva, who, in all honesty, scares me a lot. She stomps toward Chris with an angry look on her face, yelling, "You know what I think would be funny--" As she gets closer to him and holds up her fist, I jump up to hold her back, which wasn't doing much considering how strong she was. She threw me to the ground as some of the other contestants start holding her back. Chris walked over to help me up off the ground.

"Are you okay?" he asked, a look of worry on his face.

"Thank you. I'm fine." I answer quietly, trying to hide my blush that just never seems to go away when he's around.

He nods and walks back over to where he was standing earlier. "You have 30 seconds," he says. "Okay runners, On your marks, get set, GO!" Yells Chris. We all take off running. Throughout the run, I keep a pretty steady pace because I used to run when I got frustrated. Halfway through the run, I stared to overheat due to the extra layer I was wearing. I knew I'd hurt myself if I didn't take my jacket off, so I took it off and tied it around my waist and kept running.

I was one of the first people to the eating area, so I put my jacket and hood back on before seating down and waiting for the rest of the team. Pretty soon, we're just waiting for Owen, Noah, Leshawna, and Harold.

"Clear a table, STAT!" Owen runs in, yelling, carrying an unconscious Noah. After him comes Leshawna and then Harold. Owen starts doing CPR on Noah.

"What took you so long?" Courtney asks. "We just lost the challenge!"

"Wait a minute. If they lost, that means we won the challenge!" Gwen says. Everyone on the Screaming Gophers starts to cheer, except for me. It sounded too simple.

"Whoa, there! Hold your horses guys." Chris says, proving my suspicions correct. "That wasn't the challenge. Who's hungry?" He opens the curtains to reveal a feast, and for everyone else, I'm sure it looked like heaven. For me, it just looked like a big stomachache. I don't eat a lot and so seeing this much food just doesn't look appetizing. As everyone else gorges themselves with food, I sat picking at my food after eating a couple bites.

After the table is empty of food, all the camper are stuffed to the brim with food. Chris walks in and jumps onto the table.

"Okay campers! Time for part 2 of your challenge." Everyone starts complaining to Chris."It's time for the Awake-a-thon!!"
