Newt x Reader - The Greenie

19. Parents Day

I had moved back in with Teresa two days ago and we had made up. I understood that mistakes were easily made and she had made one.
Today we were both excited. We would be seeing our parents again.
Parent's Day was the day every month we would be able to relax with your relatives that came to visit.
My mom was coming today and I hadn't seen her in a little over a month.
"I can't wait to see my parents again!" Teresa exclaims.
We were both getting dressed for the day.
"Me too! I really miss my mom if I'm being honest." I say.
"Aww. I bet." Teresa says offering a sympathetic smile.
"It's okay though. I get to see her today!" I exclaim.
I had the perfect outfit picked. In fact, Newt had helped me puck it out the night before.

I had finished getting dressed and I was now putting on the accessories.
Newt had picked a few flowers for my hair last night. Blue flowers to match the outfit.
"They should be here in thirty minutes!" Teresa squeals.
I laugh and finish my outfit before heading to Newt's room.
This morning I was going to surprise him, so I got up early to allow me to have time to get ready so I could pick him up.
I walk over and knock on the door.
"Who is it." Newt asks.
"Open the door and find out." I say.
As soon as I say this, the door flies open to reveal Newt with the biggest smile.
His hair a mess. He had just gotten out of bed.
"Sorry. I wasn't expecting visitors." He says blushing.
"It's okay. You look cute." I say.
"Thanks." He says blushing again.
"You wanna get dressed and we can go get food?" I ask.
"Sounds perfect." He says.
I wait in his room as he brushes his hair and puts on a nice outfit. It's a blue button down shirt and khaki pants and a pair of black flats.
"Look at you." I say smiling.
"What? Is something wrong?" He asks.
"No, you look amazing Newt." I say.
"Never as amazing as you." He says.
"I disagree with that statement." I say.
"I don't." He says.
I kiss him on the cheek and grab his hand.
"Is anyone coming to see you today?" I ask.
I knew his parents were gone but I didn't know if he had other family.
"My older sister Lizzy is coming." He says with a smile.
(I know Lizzy and Sonya are the same person, but it's for the sake of the story.)
"Aww. My mom's coming today " I say.
"Do I get to meet her?" He asks.
"Of course! Newt, she's going to love you to bits. I promise." I say.
We continue walking to the dining hall.
"I'm nervous." He says.
"I know. It's okay. She's going to love you so much. I already know." I tell him.
He smiles.
"Are you sure?" He asks.
"There's nothing about you she won't like. Just relax." I say.
"Thanks. I love you." He says.
"I love you too." I say.
The rest of the walk is silent.
We just enjoyed each other's company. He was always calming to be around. I felt safe with him.
"Ready to go in?" He asks.
"Yes." I say.
We walk in and the smell of freshly cooked sweets hits my nose.
Frypan had to have made something special today.
"Hey Fry!" I say greeting him as always.
"Hello (Y/N), Newt." He says smiling.
"Hey." Newt says.
"What smells so good?" I ask.
"That would be the cakes. There's four. We have a strawberry, a chocolate, a vanilla, and a confetti cake for the parents today." He says.
"They smell really good." Newt says.
"Thanks." Fry says.
"Do they taste as good as they smell?" I ask jokingly.
Frypan cracks a smile.
"I sure hope so." He says.
He gives us our food and we sit with the rest of the group.
Yesterday, Thomas had apologized to Newt and I. So had Alby.
They both knew what happened after Teresa talked to them and they believed her.
Thankfully.
It was nice to have our friends back.
"Hey Thomas!" I say.
"Hey!" He says back. So far he was the only one at our table. Teresa and Alby were still in line.
"Hey Tommy!" Newt says smiling at him.
I knew he was extremely happy to have Thomas back.
"Hey, you guys excited for today?" Thomas asks.
"Yes! Of course I am." I say.
"Yeah. Lizzy's coming. I missed her a lot." Newt says.
"What's up gang?" Teresa asks walking over to the table.
"Teresa we told you this a million times. Don't call it that." Thomas says.
We were all laughing at this point.
"Sorry." She says in-between laughs.
"It's fine." I say.
I was still laughing.
"Hey guys." Alby says.
He sits down at the table and we talk through breakfast.
"Guys! They're here!" Teresa says.
We all look over to the door where there were parents, sibling, grandparents, and other family walking in.
"I see my mom!" I say excitedly.
I run over to my mom and give her a big hug.
"Aww. Hello peanut." My mom says.
"I missed you so much." I say.
She smiles pulling away from the hug.
"Wanna go to your room? I got you something." She says.
"It's this way." I say and lead her to my room.
We walk across the Glade and she looks around. The smile never leaving her face.
I knew she was remembering her time here as a kid.
"I'm so excited to see your room." My mom says.
"I know. I'm excited to show you." I say.
I take her to the room and swing the door open.
"It's so cute." She says.
The smile still on her face.
"This is my bed." I say pointing to my bed. She sets the box down and motions for me to open it.
"It's for you." She says. "Tell me what you think."
I open it.

"I know you like singing and I know they have a talent show here every year so I got you an outfit for it and a few little things for you." My mom says.
"I love it. The outfit's absolutely stunning and it's just really cute. And I love the shoes too. Honestly Mom, it's perfect." I say.
She smiles at me.
"I'm glad you like it peanut." She says.
I hug her and she returns the hug.
"I have someone for you to meet. I just need to text them and tell them it's time for them to come over." I say.
"I'm excited to meet this person." My mom says.
Me: Newt!!! Come over when you're ready. My mom wants to meet you!!!
Newt💕: I'll be there in 5 to 10 minutes.
"They'll be here soon." I say.
As if on cue, a knock his the door, so I open it.
"Hey!" I say.
My face falls when I see that it's Minho.
"Hey babe!" He says and kisses my cheek before walking in my room.
"Minho what are you doing here?" I ask.
"I was here to meet your mom." He says.
"Is this your boyfriend?" She asks.
"No he's not. He was just leaving." I say.
"Yes. I am her boyfriend." Minho says smiling.
"Honey, you don't have to hide it." She says.
"I'm not hiding anything." I say.
"Honey, you two are such a cute couple. Aww. Minho, you're a very good looking boy." My mom says.
"Thank you Mrs. (L/N)." He says.
"Oh of course Minho. Call me (M/N) (mom's name)." Mom says.
I look out of the window to see a blonde figure walking away.
"Are you kidding me Minho?" I ask.
"What's wrong babe?" He asks.
"Everything! You! You're what's wrong!" I yell.
"Honey what's going on?" My mom asks.
"Minho isn't my boyfriend and he never will be. In fact, I think he just messed everything up with my real boyfriend." I say.
"What's wrong babe? Are you okay?" Minho asks.
"No I'm not! My boyfriend hates me now!" I yell.
"No, I could never hate you." Minho says.
"Minho, get out. I don't wanna see you again. Ever. You've messed everything up so bad." I say.
There were tears coming out if my eyes.
I knew Newt had only seen the last of the conversation. Not the part where I told Minho to go away. He had seen the part where my mom was complimenting Minho.
He thought I was cheating on him.
"Babe, don't be upset." Minho says.
My mom was confused.
"Don't call me that. You aren't my boyfriend. You never will be. You're such an awful person. How could you do that to the guy you were friends with? Hmm? How could you hurt him that badly?" I ask.
"Listen, I don't care about him. J care about you." Minho says.
"No you don't. Or you would let me live my life in peace. You wouldn't be trying to ruin what I have with someone else. Stop being a jelous little jerk and get over it!" I yell.
"I'm not-" I cut him off.
"Get out of my room. You're lucky I don't slap you. Again. I'm surprised you didn't learn your lesson the first few times." I yell.
He walks out and I stand there balling my eyes out.
"Mom, I'm so sorry." I say.
"What happened?" She asks.
"I really have to go find someone. Things are messed up big time and I need to fix them. If I don't, I don't know what will happen. I think I'm gonna lose the man I love." I say.
"Honey, what's up with everything. Please explain what's going on." My mom begs.
"I can't right now. I will as soon as j come back. I promise I'll tell you everything." I say.
"See you in a minute." She says.
"I'm so sorry that this is happening. I promise I'll explain in a minute." I say.
I run to go find Newt.
I needed to find him before something bad happened.
