Walking to class with the twins was a daily occurrence and yet it was unreasonably unpredictable. Every day there was some new scheme that they wanted to try out on me. I avoided becoming a test subject for them as much as I could. I was willing to listen and let them bounce their ideas off of me, but ever since Fred tricked me into eating a candy that was laced with veritaserum, I learned my lesson.

"What is it this time?" I asked, trying not to set them off.

"We've been working on a new candy," George started.

"Okay. What's the candy?"

"It's disgusting," Fred said. He had a devious looking smile on his face.

"Absolutely repulsive," George added.

"Why would anyone want to buy something like that?"

"To prank someone else of course!"

Fred nodded. "They look and smell exactly like your average chocolate bar but they taste just awful!"

"Where do you guys come up with this stuff?"

"Well, this one was technically an accident. George was trying to make a normal chocolate bar for us to enchant for some other plan that I can't even remember. But he did such a bad job that it became genius!"

I rolled my eyes. "Of course it did."

The boys went on and on about their plan to test it out on their older brother Percy. When we reached the stairway to the divination classroom, George left us. Fed and I continued on, walking in silence for a moment. I couldn't help but admire the way his hair was jostled by a gust of wind as someone opened a door to one of the passages out of the castle.

"How'd that DADA exam go?" Fred asked, starting a new conversation.

"It was alright. I didn't fail."

"Well, that's always the goal, isn't it?"

"My parents usually ask more of me."

"Who cares what they think? It's your life."

"You care what your parents think," I stated, poking a whole in his logic. It was true.

"But I don't let what they think stop me from doing what I want," he said, correcting what he had said before. "You know that my mum isn't thrilled about what George and I do. We love her, yeah, but we don't let her stop us. Because it's what we're passionate about. She'll understand it one day."

I smiled. "I'm sure she will."

"And I'm sure your parents will realize that you don't want to be some boring ministry tool like them. No offense, of course."

"I wont tell them you said that."

"Don't tell my dad either."

"No promises there."

Fred laughed and nudged my shoulder with his.

"Can I ask you something, (y/n)?"

I looked to Fred and saw that his features had softened. He rarely looked so relaxed. There was almost always a mischievous grin plastered to his face.

"Go for it," I replied, smiling. I couldn't help but get a bit flustered under that gaze of his.

"Oh, this is your class." I finally looked away from him and he was right. Charms.
