Larry
I wake up on the floor, my messy, untidy floor. Sure I didn't do anything to clean it but I was too worried about my mom being sick than my room. She's getting more sick now than ever. I sit up and stretch, standing up as I head to the bathroom where I see my hair puffed up in all directions and untamed. I take a brush, my worst enemy, and start brushing my hair forcibly to tame it down to its natural sort of wavy yet greasy style, that is until the brush broke. "Shit. Thats my tenth hairbrush this month." I groan and throw it out after yanking the end out of my hair.
I walk out and make mom some breakfast and I grab her pills along with some medicine to help her cold. I walk in with a tray and set it on the bedside table. "Hey Larbear." She smiles weakly. I move her hair out of her face and smile at her. I hand her, her medicine then give her the pills and a glass of water. "Take it easy today mama." I tell her softly and kiss her forehead. "Te amo."
"Te amo mi hiyo." She says and I stand up, going to get ready for school. I put on a random shirt and grab my jacket, along with my bag, then head out.
Alright, my name is Larry Johnson, I live with my mom in the basement of Addison Apartments for a good ol'fifteen(?) years. I'm sixteen now and in my sophomore year. I'm tall for my age, and I have a punk jock type physique, which is why people tend to not mess with me. Except Travis Phelps, he annoys everyone.
Then this one kid. He has blue hair and a mask on all the time. He lives in the apartments in 402 with his dad. I think he name was Sal, he's very...to himself. Not interested in making friends he said, but he looks so lonely and angry all the time.
I meet up with Ash and Todd at the front and we start walking to school like usual. The dirt path is still not done into pavement. Anyway, Ash is my best friend since forever, and Todd isn't that close with me. We hang out but we're not close like Ash and I are. "Sooo, homework?" Ash pokes my shoulder like she always does.
"I didn't do..it." I smile awkwardly.
"Larry you promised." She huffed and crossed her arms.
"I'm sorry, I'm busy taking care of my mom. She's been sick for the past week." I tell her offended that she would think that I don't care about her. She looks up at me with her wonderful green eyes, I always admired her eyes. They're beautiful. Everyone thinks we're dating but technically we see each other as siblings, and besides I'm gay and she's a big lesbo. Well technically I'm pan but I'm more into dudes.
"I'm sorry Lar. I know its hard for you." She sighs. "I just want you to start passing other classes than art."
"I'm trying Ash." I wrap an arm around her shoulders as we walk. "But you can't teach a stoner new lessons."
"Shut up." She laughs and shoves me playfully.
We soon get to the school and walk in. We head over to our locker which were close to each other. I open mine and shove in my backpack and take out my art stuff for my first class, Ash does the same since she has art in the morning with me. We start heading to the art room talking and laughing when I see a flash of his blue hair pass. His head was down and he was carrying a lot of books.
"Larry, your staring. Lets go before he calls you out again." Ash whispers and pulls me along. I sigh heavily knowing I will never get to him. Its like he has a barrier around him keeping him away from everyone but himself.
I head into the art room along with Ash and I sit down at a blank canvas, thinking of what to paint.
"Okay. Whats up with you?" Ash asks plumping down onto a stool beside me. She sounded serious which isn't a good sign.
"Whats up with me?" I question not looking at her which I know she wants me to do.
"Eye contact Larry. And yes with you." She says. "You keep staring at the guy who told us off the other day and then you yesterday."
"Ashley I just want to help him open up." I sigh finally facing her. "His dad told me he's dealing with a lot from their home state which is why they moved." She stares at me for a little bit, she looked distraught.
"Fine. But you better not do anything stupid." She sighs heavily in defeat. I smile and ruffle her hair as she laughs.
