It had been almost a month and a half since Rick had been shot and put in that coma. It had been three weeks and two days since you last saw him. You didn't say anything as you grunted and slammed the axe into the wood, splitting it in two making your dog tags jingle a little. You quickly put another pice of wood up on the stump and slammed the axe back down. The memories of Shane walking through the doors of Lori and Ricks front door telling you that it was time to leave replay in your mind like a movie.

The anger and sorrow prick at your eyes as you slam the axe down again trying to release some of your emotion. After the last two chunks of wood fall you slam the ax into the stump with a thud letting it stick for Ed because you never share your fire wood with him. Unless of course Carol or Sophia asked then you agree to share a pice or two. You didn't mind getting wood. Everyone did their part as best they could for the most part and thats all you could do.

You weren't hunting today, Daryl was while his brother was out on a run. Glenn, T-Dog, Merle, Andrea, Morales, and Jacqui were all on a run hence you cutting wood. Trying to keep your mind from wandering on why they weren't back yet. It had been too long and you cared for those people, even Merle though you preferred his brother.

You'd taken a liking to the redneck since you met him. He was intriguing with his curious blue eyes that stopped you in your tracks when you first saw him. Daryl was closer with you than anybody in the camp besides his brother. He was sorta a loner and you liked that about him. You wanted to tell your brother about him, you think he'd like him and for a split second you forgot that he was gone. Your big brother. Your twin. The other half of your soul.

Starting to pick up the pieces of wood one by one, the talking of everyone back at camp begins to fade away while you remember once again. You remember Lori's crying as she helps her son pack necessities in bags while Shane holds your body to his preventing you from storming the overrun hospital to get Rick. He held your back to his chest as you screamed trying to fight out of his grip. You sigh as you start towards the wood pile with some of the fresh split wood in your arms.

~Flashback~

"He gone (Y/n)! He's gone!" Shane yelled trying to snap you out of your state. "Let go of me god dammit! YOU LET GO!" You yelled in pure rage as you watch your vision go blurry with tears. Were you crying? "(Y/n) stop we have to go! Ricks dead!" Shane yelled at you trying to be reasonable. That's when it hit you, all that rage suddenly flipped like a switch into dark consuming sorrow. "He's dead..." you say in more of a question as you stop squirming, your fists unballing, letting your head drop while one hand grabs your dog tags over your heart.

Shane finally set you down but held on to you for a second longer before finally releasing you, "He's..." you trail off unable to finish the sentence a second time before you slowly turn to Shane with tears still flowing down your face, "S-Shane, your sure...?" You ask unable to keep your voice from cracking as you squeeze the metal in your hand harshly.
