Certain types of dogs

Have specific traits

That they are known by.

On our first date,

You told me I was like a little Chihuahua.

When I asked what you meant,

I was small,

But feisty.

But I dismissed it

Because who was I to judge

The connection that you made.

I liked dogs.

Why would it be bad to be compared to one?

Dogs are known very widely

To have a sense of loyalty

To the human who takes care of them.

We continued to go out.

We had been together

For about 4 months now,

And I felt really connected to you.

Sometimes,

We didn't get along.

You hit me twice,

But then told me you were sorry,

Which made me feel good.

I liked feeling good,

And I knew that this was a bad way

To feel good,

But I dismissed that,

Because that must be what love is,

And love is something

You don't throw away.

4 and a half months into the relationship,

You told me I was like a boxer,

Because no matter

What type of argument,

Or hardship we had gone through so far,
