Growing Pains

Steven's P.O.V
I was home eating some ice cream as I was watching a movie trailer of Dogcopter 6. Apparently Drew and Dogcopteter will marry each other. I looked at the T.V with annoyance. "Everyone's getting married but me." I said. Suddenly my ice cream bowl slipped off and fell on the floor. I stared at it before I let the T.V controller fall on the floor. I fell back on my bed as I sighed and I felt myself turn pink. "Ugh I feel like poop." I say to myself as I reach over to grab my phone. I then dial one of the gems phone number to call them. "I wish the gems weren't doing a field trip this week. Wonder if they have any reception." I said. The phone rang and kept on trying to reach them but it went to voicemail. I then hung up as I looked at my contacts.

I see (Y/n)'s contract labeled as "Honey Pie💗". I stare at it with sadness as I scrolled down and called Dad. The phone rang then dad picked the phone up. "Hey Steven!" I heard dad say. I felt a smile on my face as I sat up on the bed. "Hey dad! How's it going?" I asked him. "The tour's been going great! What's going on with you? Throwing big parties while you get the house to yourself?" Dad asks. "Yeah heh you know me." I said sheepishly following along. "But I'm really glad you're coming home tonight. I really need to talk to someone about what happened to me and (Y/n)." I said to him. I heard a loud crash along with coughing. "Sorry Steven. What was that? Sadie and Shep have been working on a new routine! You'll never believe what they throw into the audience. Hey guess what?! The tour has been extended!" Dad exclaimed. As soon as he said that my heart dropped. "Wow uh that's great!" I cheered trying not to sound sad. "Yeah you know you were so right about this whole manager thing Steven! I love it! I can't believe I'm touring again." Dad said happily. "Oh we're about to go into another tunnel. Do you want to call me back with whatever you wanted to talk about?" Dad asks. "It wasn't important." I assured him. "You sure? I can stop by on our way to Delmarva." Dad says. "No it's ok just have fun!" I said. But the phone line was already cut.

I sighed as I went downstairs to get more ice cream. I placed my phone in the counter as I opened the freezer. I look down at the refrigerator door and I see a picture of me and (Y/n) together. Suddenly I felt my body grow and swell as I accidentally ripped off the freezer door. I drop it as I try to calm myself down. I grabbed my phone and made my way to the couch. I sat down as I looked at my contacts. I see (Y/n)'s contact and I started to mentally debate whether I should call her or not.

"I-I shouldn't bother her." I say to myself. After I said that my phone started to ring. I gasp as I look at the caller ID and I see (Y/n) was calling me. "I-I'll let it go to voice mail." I told myself. But then my arm swelled up and accidentally pressed the accept button. "Steven? Sweetie are you there?!" I heard (Y/n) call out. I brought the phone up to my face. "Hey honey what's up?" I said as I tried to sound cool. "Steven! Thank goodness. I was so worried about you! Wait a-are you glowing?" (Y/n) asked.

"O-Oh am I?" I asked trying to avoid it. Soon I felt my face swell. (Y/n) gasped as she looked at me with worry. "Steven! What's happening to your face?!" She exclaimed. "What's wrong with my face?" I asked. "Uhhh..." (Y/n) trailed off. "R-Right the swelling." I said as I avoided her gaze. "My body keeps on randomly growing b-but it doesn't hurt or anything it's fine." I told to her. "H-How long has it been happening?" She asked. "Since this morning." I told her reluctantly. "So what did the gems think?" She asked me." "I can't reach them. They're on a school trip out in the wilderness. It's nothing to worry about anyway." I told her.

"You don't look too well hon. Maybe you should- Oh! Connie's mom is a doctor! I bet she can help you!" She said with hope in her eyes. "I don't wanna waste her time." I said. "But you need to see a doctor honey! I'll contact her right away! Love you bye!" She said as she hung up. I stare at my phone as she hung up. I sigh as I walked up to my room and changed into my clothes. As soon as I finished dressing my phone began to ring. I looked over and I saw the caller ID. It was Connie she was calling me. I slowly reach over and grab my phone pressing the accept button.
