Drabble: "Are you okay?"

The One With The Ex-Villain.

•••

You held Eri's hand as you walked into UA high. The fear of losing her amongst the large groups of people caused you to grip onto her tiny child-like hand tightly.

You noticed a young boy staring at you as you walked by. He probably wondered why you of all people were roaming the halls of UA. You hadn't failed to notice his stare along with dozens of others, their curious minds wanting to know why a villain like you was allowed here.

You pulled Eri closer to you as you walked to Shouta’s classroom faster. A normal person wouldn't feel so threatened by being watched, you, however, weren't normal. You had a history and a reputation. A bad one at that.

"I can't believe they let you in here."

You kept your head down and bit your lip as you dragged Eri along with you but he wouldn't let you go, he followed after you yelling.

"UA high really has gone down? Who in their right mind would hire a filthy villain? As if you could ever turn your life around. As if you could be good."

"I'm sorry you feel that way, if you’ll excuse me I have somewhere to be."

Out of the side of your eye, you see him fire up his quirk. You push Eri behind you and stand between her and the boy in a protective stance. You weren't sure what to do in this situation.

"Scum like you shouldn’t be allowed to live."

You know you should protect yourself, but the boy is still a student. Although you would be defending yourself the news outlets would see it as an ex-villain acting out. You fought so hard to turn your life around, and retaliating to this kid could ruin that and bring scrutiny to the school.

"Punks like you shouldn't be allowed to be heroes."

You’re pushed back as Shouta jumps in front of you. He uses his old but reputable scarf and wraps it around the kid's hand with ease stopping his quirk immediately.

"Mr. Aizawa! She was getting violent."

"[Y/N] has worked hard to turn her life around, we trust the word of our new teacher over a foolish student. Consider yourself expelled."

The kid walks off, not an ounce of shame in his system, though you’re sure he'll be feeling regret once the reality of his expulsion actually sets in.

"Are you okay? Is Eri okay?"

"We're fine! We were on our way to your classroom when... We’re fine, just a little shaken up."

Shouta crouches down and inspects Eri’s body carefully for any injuries. A tear slides down your cheek and you quickly wipe it away before Shouta can see.

"Ugh, you'd think I'd be used to the stares and criticism by now. Maybe I should just look for a different job... I am an ex-villain, I'm not exactly qualified to teach heroics."

Shouta stands back up and looks you in the eyes sternly.

"Just because you have a bad past doesn't mean you deserve criticism. You weren't even a villain by consent, you were forced to do it. You have worked so hard to turn your life around, anybody could see that."

"You're right. I've worked hard, I deserve this. Maybe I won't be the best teacher, but I'll try."

Shouta grabs Eri’s other hand and guides you both to your new classroom which you'll be using to teach your own class. He looks at the ground with a small blush.

"You’re gonna make a great teacher, you've got me to give you all the teaching pointers. Tip one, expulsion works wonders."
