I had been sat in the room for hours. I rushed to my wife as soon as I heard the news about her condition. I wanted to console her and reassure her, but she was completely passed out.
Drummed with fear and panic I yelled at her to wake up fearing that she had already left me, but the Doctor reassured me that she had started a strict course of very strong antibiotics and it was to be expected for the drugs to knock her out.
I had to of course break the news to my family that waited nervously outside the room. They were all devastated at the news. Lily couldn't cope with her mum's state and Alexander took her away with the little kicker to comfort her.
Ethan had stayed by his mum's side as the nurses and doctors carried on with tests around her. But Ethan couldn't stay for long. He was a doctor and he had to attend a Skype call to some students back in Australia.
The nurses and doctors had finished up their tasks and left us alone reassuring me that if I needed anything, to just press the button by her bed.
Shuffling myself even closer to the bed, I grabbed my wife's hand and brought it to my lips. Her skin was an unsightly pale colour and she had lost so much weight. I hated staring at the IV drips hooked up to her and grimaced at the beeping sounds from the various machines around her.
My angel shouldn't be hooked up to all these machines clinging onto her life. I missed the days she'd bound into our room and kiss me good morning before feeding me the delicious food she made.
I missed my wife who's smile and happiness was infectious. She was the light in everyone's life. My light, my everything.
"You listen here and you listen good Isabella. You are going to fight this infection and then you're going to fight this cancer. You are a Richardson, you are a fighter and you're never gonna give up. You're coming back to me and that's how it's going to be. I'm not allowing you to give up, not now, not ever. I'm right by your side and I will always stay there loving you".
Stroking her head softly, I rested my head on the pillow next to my sleeping wife and kissed her nose gently.
"I'll never stop loving you baby".
"Y-you better not".
Isabella opened her beautiful eyes and raised her hand to stroke away my tears of desperation.
"Oh sweetheart".
Isabella nuzzled her nose against mine before kissing me gently.
"I, I"-
"Shhh, not another word my love. I know everything. The doctor told me. It's okay. We don't have to talk about it right now, just cuddle me".
"You big softie" Isabella chuckled whilst playfully punching me.
"Only for you my love".
Isabella's eyes remained glued to mine with precious tears falling out from those beautiful eyes of hers.
Suddenly the door burst open and I pulled away from Isabella in shock as to the sudden noise.
"Ha, you big baby" Isabella poked my cheek with a grin on her face.
My lips instinctively pouted at my adorable wife and shook my head at her before turning back to the door.
"Oh mum" Lily cried before rushing over to her and carefully embraced Isabella in her arms.
