You can't name it stars
When it's just flies in a jar
You can't name it the sea
When it's just a puddle at your feet
There's a word too big
For my tongue to command
A word from Heaven
Spoken by no man
It sums it all up
I know in my heart
This power that binds us
Though we are kept apart
Oh, we can't name this love
That word's just too small
We fight for the words
When we don't know what to call
This love
You can't name it freedom
When you live in a cage
You can't name it happiness
When you struggle with rage
You can't name it life
When you feel dead inside
You can't name it hope
When nothing will grow
You can't name it Heaven
When you're trapped here on Earth
You can't name it precious
When you don't know its worth
Oh, we can't name this love
That word's just too small
We fight for the words
When we don't know what to call
This love
