THE END

3rd April 2020: Author's Note:

Hi whoever is reading this now, I started this story when I was 13 years old and in a couple of months I will be turning 20. If you can believe that.

So much has happened to me and I just want anyone who was here from the start to know a bit of my life and why I stopped writing– I lost my friend to a sudden death in 2016 (I dedicate anything I write to her), I moved overseas for a year and had my first love story (my own). I graduated high school, and I started University. My life has been lowkey non-stop since.

I remember the countless Fridays I would be so excited to get home from school to just start typing for this story and it means a lot to me – even if a lot of it doesn't make much sense. It makes me happy to know that it's still here. I also love bragging that I have a 5sos fanfic that has a lot of hearts (or something). I think that's pretty damn cool.

So, here is the end to this story. Not the original ending my 13 year old self was planning but... sometimes you just have to close the door.

Thank you for reading this far.

THE END – 2018 (2 years later)

Four years after the party that both boys seemed to have forgotten by the next morning. They were in Madrid, after having released Youngblood on their 'Meet You There Tour'.

It had been Ashton who had gone through a hurricane of a relationship to have gotten the songs for the album. The boys were there for him as he went through it but like everyone knows, it's hard to be there for someone who doesn't realise they're even in a bad position in the first place.

But Ashton made it through, and so did the other boys.

Michael fell in love with a woman named Crystal. Again, all the boys were supportive. They were just happy that Michael was happy. They knew how much torture it had been for him to watch Ashton buckle under the power of his previous relationship.

Calum and Luke also moved in with each other. In LA, their house was nine minutes away from Ashton, and ten minutes in the other direction from Michael.

Their house was full of plants and the windows shone in light every morning, waking both boys each morning. Luke came to learn to love himself more and more, and Calum was there sometimes when he couldn't love himself enough on his own. They were a team.

The break between Sounds Good Feels Good and Youngblood really helped Luke heal. He was feeling better and better each day.

November 20th 2018

They were in Madrid the day that Calum proposed. It was not planned. It could have been any day on the tour, but he had kept the ring in his pocket for about two months by that point. He was going restless himself.

Every time he felt the small box, all he wanted to do was lean over to Luke, who was usually not far and just ask him then and there.

"Is it okay, that I wear this?" Calum asked as he got ready that night. Luke and Ashton both looked over at him and smiled
"Yeah, it looks great."

Calum looked down at his shirt and smiled to himself slowly. It was Luke's All Time Low shirt. He hoped this shirt would give him courage tonight. But he also wanted to be reminded of the start of his relationship with Luke tonight.

"Come on, let's go rock." Ashton said.

On stage Calum played, and his left back pocket felt like it was weighing him down. He stopped before the encore. Just as they were all saying goodbye.

"Can I just add something, that wasn't in our script for a second?" He asked, and the microphone amplified his words. Ashton who was there when the ring was brought, begun grinning and he gave Calum the thumbs up.

Cal encouraged by the loud screaming crowd, went forward and kneeled in front of Luke.

The crowd screamed louder if that was possible, and it further fuelled Calum's confidence as he met Luke's gaze. Luke has swung his guitar onto his back and he looked towards Michael, as if asking for guidance.

"Cal?" Luke took a step back, so his mouth is in line with his microphone and Calum moved on his knee to be closer to him.
"Lucas Robert Hemmings."

"That's my name." Luke interrupted, unable to help himself. Somewhere, he heard Ashton laughing.

"Look. Luke. Shut up, for a second." Luke nodded. "Look, I love you more than anything that I have ever loved..." Calum paused for a second. "You know... that's living. Anyway," Calum continued quickly.

"Look. I love you so much, Luke and I know we're only Twenty-Two and we smell gross half the time and we don't know where we're heading with our lives. But there is one thing I know right now and it's that I love you so much and I want to spend my life with you." Calum took a deep breath and the stadium was quiet. Not one scream filtered through Calum's ears.

"Everything that we've been through these last years together," Calum beamed at him, "from moving in, to Christmas at yours, the endless kisses, and the time on stage. It makes me the happiest man on the planet. I love the way you dance, and how excited you get every time we recreate our trip to the zoo – the penguins never get enough of you. You are a star, Luke Hemmings, and I'm lucky to be a planet that you chose to shine your light on."

"So what I really want to ask is... Will you marry me?" Calum finished.

Luke couldn't fight the smile on his face. Luke looked back down at Calum, who was tearing up. That was enough for Luke to feel his eyes burning too.

"Oh, fuck..." He looked out at the crowd and grimaced. "Sorry. I mean, Yes. One Hundred times yes."

Luke had never heard the screams that loud, until that day. His heart burst, when Calum slipped the ring onto his finger and pulled Luke into his chest.

Luke could not think of a memory of ever being happier. Neither could Calum.

Once they disentangled themselves the lights on the stage went black and they were ushed off the stage.

It was only for 2 minutes, if that – before they went back for their encore.

But Luke was still beaming off stage, he pulled Calum into a hug and held him there and then felt Michael and Ashton surrounding them in a group hug.

"I'm never letting go," Calum said firmly.
"I love you guys so much." Luke whispered.

"I love you guys." The other two boys replied.

A stagehand tapped Michael on the shoulder indicating it was time for 'She Looks So Perfect'.

"Can we come back and cry later?" Calum asked, as he wiped his face and Luke took his hand.

"We have a whole lifetime to cry, Cal. Try and hold it together." Luke couldn't stop smiling, "I dare you."

The End.
