We slowed down, our ankles sore and bruised. We had been walking for a few days and hadn't had a place to stop. The walker population had increased over the past few days in the city we were traveling through. We started this journey with a bus load of people, but they were all killed in an attack on a prison we were taking shelter in. Now, only a handful of us remained. We all believed that all hope was lost, that nothing would change, but i guess our health was improving if that counts as better. None of us were sick, no one has been bitten. But it was really hot, and the sweat kept getting in my eyes.

"Dad, can we stop here in a bit? Judith is getting routy." I said.

"Sure, if I'm not mistaken there should be an abandoned rest stop close by here. Michonne can you take Judith from Carl?" Rick said gesturing to Michonne.

We walked a few miles up the dirt road until we were cut off by a group of walkers, five or six of them. Michonne handed Judith back to me and joined Daryl by pulling out her weapon. Daryl loaded his crossbow and had it up ready to shoot. He recycles every arrow, helping the flesh eating cannibalistic planet one step at a time. A couple of slices later, we were traveling once again.

The rest stop shortly appeared around the corner. I stayed outside with Beth, Lizzie, Mica, and Judith while the others went in to clear it out. We heard groans and gunshots from inside the resting area. Glenn opened the rusty metal door, covered in blood.

"Its cleared if you all wanna come inside."He said.

We all gathered our stuff and walked in. Maggie and Carol were dragging bodies out the door. I looked out the shattered window to see a cloud of black smoke from the corpses. Beth came up behind me and put her hand on my shoulder.

"Hey..."

"Hey..."

"You looked lonely, just thought I'd come talk to you..."

"Thanks."

Her blonde hair was pulled up into a messy low ponytail and the loose, free strands were laying against her yellow cardigan.  We sat for half an hour against the wall just talking and laughing. These were the moments that were hard to come by. Everyone nowadays really needed a good laugh and I had just the person to give it to me.
