Nikki's POV
I walked over to Evelyn, fast asleep. I sat in the floor, my legs crossed, and pulled a book out from a box under the bed. Opening it up to the table of contents, I observed all fifty chapters. I opened it and began reading.
I was on chapter six when Evelyn sat up and yawned. She looked at me, wiping the sleep from her eyes.
"Hello..." I said looking up from my book.
"What are you doing?" She asked.
"Just waiting for you to wake up..."
"Oh..okay..." she laid back down and pulled the blankets up over her head. I yanked them off of her.
"Hey!" She yelled as I pulled out some jeans and a white t-shirt from my bag.
"Go take a shower. Put these on afterwards."
She nodded and got up, heading out the door. I looked at Carl, his face buried in his pillow. I shook him lightly as he rolled over.
"Whaaaaaaaat?" He whined.
"Kate asked us to go on a run for fruit."
"Why us?"
"I don't know, but if it gets me out of this cage I'm down with it."
He got up and put his hat on his head, shoving his gun in his holster. We walked out the door and made our way to the gates. The guards happily opened them for us, leading us out into the open. I swung my axe up and over my shoulder. He led me through the woods to a small garden type area.
"She's depressed..." I muttered to Carl as he picked an apple off the tree.
"What?" He said, putting it in his bag.
"Evelyn, she's upset. She's upset because you're a jerk, Carl."
"Wow, thanks..." He replied sarcastically.
"What I mean is, she loves you Carl. She only broke up with you, because you were being obnoxious. Don't try and tell me you weren't, because you were."
"Okay, okay so I was a bit rude..."
I rolled my eyes and picked some berries. Putting them in my bag, I looked up to see some walkers. I threw the bag down and casually walked over to them, thrusting my axe into each skull. Carl stood back in awe.
"Stop staring Carl, you have a girlfriend..."
"Had..." He corrected. He walked over and put his hands on my waist. He leaned in and connected our lips.
