Chapter Ten - Smoke And Mirrors

As the invasion began, the Wild, Wild Pussycats began fighting what appeared to be a large army of low level Villains. In reality, they were throwing punches in the air and using their Quirks against nothing. Roman found this amusing. 

Roman: Now then, let the fun begin!

As Roman said that, everyone began attacking the Heroes. The Heroes felt that they were being overwhelmed by the attack despite the reality. Yaoyorozu and Jiro fought alongside the Heroes. 

Tiger: There's too many of them! We need to fall back!

Mandalay: We can't! We need to protect the students!

Roman: Trying to run away, are we? I'm afraid we can't let you do that! Cinder, my dear? Give our compatriots a nice ring!

Cinder then used her Fire Quirk to create a large ring of fire that blocked the Heroes from escaping. Pixie Bob then used her Earth Flow Quirk to create multiple Earth Beasts to even the odds. 

Pixie Bob: Try this on for size! 

As the Earth Beasts attacked the fake Villains, Roman laughed. 

Roman: Your Quirk works wonders, Emerald! Perhaps you'd be better off in my organization! 

Emerald: Not interested Torchwick.

Meanwhile, Yaoyorozu and Jiro fought off the fake Villains when they were approached by someone who appeared to be Kaminari. 

Jiro: Denki?! What are you doing here?! How did you get past that fire?!

Kaminari simply smiled as he smacked Jiro to the ground and proceeds to put Yaoyorozu in a headlock.

Jiro: What the hell are you doing?! 

Kaminari simply smiled as he began to strangle Yaoyorozu. Jiro grabs a nearby branch and hits Kaminari with it. When she did, he appeared to shatter to glass pieces. It was then revealed to be Neo using her Overactive Imagination. 

Jiro: Neo!

Neo simply smiled as she attacked the two students with her umbrella. The two were soon attacked by Adam. Nee immediately halted her attack as Adam towered over them. 

Adam: Let my sword deal swift and unforgiving justice. Let those who fight for this corrupt society willingly or unwillingly be purged. 

Without hesitation, Adam began attacking the two students with the intention to kill. To him, there were no innocents. There was only the enemy and their accomplices. As Yaoyorozu and Jiro struggled against Adam, Tyrian and Mercury attacked Tiger and Pixie Bob. 

Mercury: I never liked cats anyway. 

Tyrian: Remember the mission, Mercury. Let's at least have some fun!

Tyrian attacked Tiger with his Scorpion Stinger while Mercury attacked Pixie Bob with a series of kick based attacks. Roman then lunged at Ragdoll and attacked her with his cane. 

Ragdoll: You won't get away, Torchwick!

Torchwick: Your dedication to your team and your profession is admirable, but very misguided. 

Roman quickly proved to be the superior fighter. Mandalay saw this and rushed to her teammate's aid. 

Mandalay: You've gone too far?

Roman: Really, my dear Hero? I'm simply exercising my superiority. 

Roman and Mandalay soon fought an intense fight. As the fight dragged on, Cinder continued burning the Earth Beasts to ashes while Emerald maintained the illusion. Adam soon caught a glimpse of Cinder and felt a great rage coming over him. 

Adam: Cinder....

Adam then disregarded Yaoyorozu and Jiro and began calmly walking towards Cinder. As Jiro fought Neo, Yaoyorozu noticed something strange about the whole fight.

Yaoyorozu: (Those Villains are walking through the fire without any injuries! That can't be possible unless......)

Yaoyorozu then saw Emerald standing still while keeping her distance from the actual fighting. 

Yaoyorozu: (That Villain......)

Sensing something wrong, Yaoyorozu used her Creation Quirk to form a bo staff and charged at Emerald. Before she could react, Emerald was attacked by Yaoyorozu which caused her to lose her confrontation. This caused her Hallucination Quirk to cancel out, lifting the illusions. Roman was impressed. 

Roman: Not bad, little girl! It seems UA has taught you well! But we still have all the cards!

Roman's gang continued to fight against the Heroes. Roman took a moment to relish in the chaos that he had created. Despite this, he knew that this gang was a ticking time bomb waiting to implode on itself. 

Roman: (This is turning out better than I had hoped! This might even be an even grander performance that the USJ!)

As Roman relished in the chaos, he received a call from Dabi on his communicator. 

Roman: What is it, Dabi?

Dabi(Communicator): We have what we came for. Time for you to bail. 

Roman: A shame. I was just starting to have fun. Very well. First I'll need to cover my escape. Get a big portal ready. 

As Roman said that, a large purple portal opened. Roman then turned to Cinder. 

Roman: I'm afraid it's time for us to depart. Cinder, give us some space. 

Cinder then creates a large wall of fire between the Villains and the Heroes. As most of Roman's group stepped through the portal, Roman couldn't help himself but address the Heroes.

Roman: Let it be known that it was Roman Torchwick that bested you all this day! But don't fret, my heroic adversaries! For a new era is approaching! A new era of villainy and class! But until then, so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye!

With that, Roman left on a dramatic note. The damage left behind by the League of Villains was devastating. Roman's endgame was near and he would take full advantage of it. But for now, Roman remained ever so patient. He would not let this opportunity slip away, but he wouldn't rush it either.
