It's been three weeks since the failed attempt of escape by the Kingston women. Alex and the rest of his family heard about their near escape but hearing about the hit and run car accident was karma's payback to their deeds.

Natasha was a person of habit. It was her luck that she had her seatbelt on when the accident happened. She escaped with only a broken right arm and some stitches. The same could not be said for her mother, Adeline. She had fractured a part of her lower spine so she'll never be able to walk again. She was paralyzed from the waist down much to her horror and deteriorating sanity. The driver died on the way to the hospital but the cops manage to identify him as the leader of Adeline's entourage of thugs and a part of the Lombardi's men.

Natasha had accepted to confess to everything that she had done hoping for a reduced sentence with parole but Adeline was different. She was going to be trialed in a public court because she was being particularly stubborn and spiteful.

It was time to get answers from the women that ruined their lives. James, Chris and Alex's parents came with me for support. Jonathan, Jean and Kathy were also there for their own set of answers. Lucas, Nat's hidden boyfriend, was also present to witness the event since he was let off due to his ignorance of their schemes.

It was decided that Jonathan, Jean and Alex would be in the interrogation room with both women while the rest would listen from the two-way mirror.

It didn't take long for the cops to lead the women into the room. They were both sitting opposite the entourage of ex-husbands looking pale, skinny and depressing. Nat still had a cast on her arm while Adeline was looking quite uncomfortable on her new wheels.

The utter shame and loathing that Nat and Adeline respectively had on their faces was astounding and typical.

Jean smiled kindly to his ex-wife and her daughter, "How are you, Sophia?" It just made 'Sophia' look more like a rapid dog. She struggled to attack Jean only to realize her paralyzed condition limited her. She fell into hysterics trying to comprehend her new reality.

Jean asked her a simple question. A single question he had confessed to Alex and Jon had been plaguing his mind for years, "Why?"

She chuckled at the question like it was an absurdly stupid one, "Why? I wanted more. Playing the housewife and a kind selfless woman that had her own charity organization for the poor was a cover, a weakness that I'll never be in my life.

"I loved the danger, the thrill, the wine, parties, and the power that came with being with Rochus. I loved him and was willing to do anything for him as long as I got my rightful place at his side one day.

"He proposed that I marry you to humiliate you by taking away your fortunes for his planned war on the Argento family. He was tired of being bossed around like a dog, ordering hits for his 'leader' but being the least liked was infuriating for him. He wanted to be Capo di tutti capi and I wanted to rule by his side.

"During the last year of our marriage, Lombardi ordered me to befriend Valentina Kingston and destroy her married life to Jon," she gestured to Jon. "I obeyed him like a mindless buffoon, thinking that Jon might've done something to piss off the wrong people, until I found out that Valentina's father was Romano.

"By the time I learnt of that piece of information, I had already succeeded in framing Valentina long enough for Lombardi to take her away and make it seem like she had run away with her new lover.

"He had played me like a fool. He wanted to marry the last of the Romano to gain the allegiance of her father's soldiers and would've left me with nothing but a mistress status. That didn't last when Lombardi's men failed in capturing her and caused her to crash off the road and for her to go in a blazing glory.
