Beyond The Walls // Attack On Titan

𝗁𝗈𝗐 𝗒𝗈𝗎 𝗆𝖾𝗍

The sound of whimpers caught your attention, you were strolling around the streets happily skipping along a tune you had been humming when this interrupted you.

You walked to the source of the sound to see a blonde boy sitting against a wall and crying quietly, you also heard kids laughing and leaving him. You frowned at this sight and walked to the boy, kneeling infront of him.

"Are you okay? Did those kids hurt you?" you ask him, he nods and wipes the tears out of his eyes with a sniffle. You reach into your dress pocket and pull out a handkerchief, giving it to him.

He raises his head, revealing his big blue eyes shining with tears. He hesitantly took it and wiped his tears with it as long as his nose, "I'm (Y/N)!" you hold your hand out, smiling brightly.

"I'm A-Armin.." he says, shaking your hand then handing you back your handkerchief which you neatly place back in your pocket. You stand up, helping him stand too.

"Why did those kids bully you?" you ask him, he picks up his book that was laying on the ground and dusted it off. "They said i was a n-nerd so they started kicking me and calling me names." he explained, his gaze falling to the floor.

"That wasn't nice of them, i'll make sure they don't hurt you next time!" you say with determination, you two them find a spot to sit in and start talking about all sorts of things.

After a while, he decided to show you his book. You and him ended up reading the book together for the rest of the day, you enjoyed his company and he enjoyed yours.

"This is Eren and Mikasa, (Y/N). They saved me from some bullies a few days ago." Armin introduced you to his other friends, you were happy he made more friends but angered that he was bullied once again and you weren't there with him.

"It's nice to meet you!" you hold your hand out to the two kids, a brunette with emerald eyes and a raven-haired girl with a red scarf wrapped around her neck. They each shook your hand and started talking.

Armin brought along a book that his grandfather showed him, talking about all the things he learned about it. You being the curious child you were peered over and started to read it while he continued explaining it to Eren and Mikasa, Eren was amazed and Mikasa was also curious.

"So it's called an ocean? That's such a weird name." You ask, "I wonder how long it would take before merchants finish all the salt in the ocean." Eren says, putting his arms behind his head.

"That's the thing, the salt never runs out!" Armin exclaims, "That's impossible." Mikasa lets out which makes Armin shake his head.

"Apparently not, listen to all these different places!" he smiles, "Burning water, sandy fields, it would be amazing to see all of this someday. I really want to see an ocean." Armin says in awe, his eyes staring at the water infront of you with determined eyes.

"It's getting dark, we should head home." you suggest to your friends, they all nod and stand up. Eren and Mikasa left, leaving you and Armin walking to your homes.

"Do you ever wish to join the Survey Corps like Eren?" you ask Armin, "Well, sometimes yeah." he replies.

"Do you?" he asks you, you hum thinking of an answer. "I guess so, i always wanted to see how things are outside the walls. To explore and discover new things!" you smile at him, he smiles back.

"Maybe one day, the four of us could see the ocean. When all the titans are gone and everyone is living peacefully." Armin says, "I would like that." you replied.

"Me too." was all he said before waving goodbye and heading off to his street, you walking to yours.

The ground shook under you, you and your friends shared concerned glances. You quickly stood up and ran to the street, civilians were pointing and gasping at a giant titan who stood above the gate. Its gaze scared you, it suddenly kicked the wall sending a chunk of it flying off into the homes.

Eren and Mikasa quickly ran home to look for their mother, Armin looked for his grandfather and you looked for parents.

"We'll meet up later, okay?" you ask your friend, he quickly nods and you bolt home the moment he does. The people were screaming and shoving, you still couldn't find your parents. You knew you had to get on a boat before there we no more slots, you'll find your parents later.

You spotted Armin and his grandfather entering one of the boats, you ran to them and started explaining everything. So here you sat beside Armin, he was standing up looking for Eren and Mikasa while you were seated.

You were too worried for your family, "I'm sure they're fine, (Y/N)." his grandfather says, all you could do was nod. "Armin, sit down." he says, Armin then spots Eren and Mikasa entering one of the boats with grim looks on their faces.

"What happened?" he asks, finally sitting down beside you. You sniffled and wiped your eyes, you didn't wanna believe that your parents were dead. They probably got lost in the crowd and were forced to board a boat.

"(Y/N)? Are you okay?" his worried tone is what sets you off, you shake your head.

"I'm scared, what if they're gone?" you ask him, he hugs you. "It'll be okay, we'll find them."

Yet you didn't, they were in fact eaten when the titans broke in. Armin's grandfather was also eaten when they sent out civilians to help with the situation, so here sat 4 orphans in the evacuation center. Living off rations until you were old enough to join the Cadet Corps, it was the only way to survive.

Even if you lost your family, you still had each other. You had each other to look out for and seek comfort from, that's all that mattered to you.
