A giant shadow loomed over the town, scorching steam covering the top of the wall. Everyone stared in horror to see the Colossal Titan, it was back again after 5 years to strike and wreak havoc to humanity.

It lifted its leg, kicking a giant hole into the wall with titans swarming in shortly after. You saw a soldier go and aim for it's neck only for it to disappear, you couldn't see who it was since you were a little far from the scene.

Looking around, you can see the panic in everyone's eyes. The pain and fear coming back to most of them and the same feeling being new to some, you urged them to immediately evacuate into the walls. When you gathered with the other cadets and your superior, it was announced that the 104th Cadet Corps would be released to help slay the titans that had broken into the wall.

This was the day everyone was training for, the day to test your skills and survive. This wasn't like training back then where if you screwed up you would be able to restart, this was nothing like that. Life or Death, those were your choices.

You checked your gear, making sure the gas was full and you had all your blades. Taking a deep breath, you prayed to the walls that everyone would be safe. It was funny praying for everyone's safety when you knew there would be many casualties, nonetheless you did so.

"(Y/N)!" a voice called out to you, you froze in your spot. The sound of metal bouncing and footsteps nearing caused you to grow more and more anxious, you felt a tap on your shoulder.

"(Y/N), you ready?" you slowly turn around to see Floch, you two grew to be really close friends over the years. You checked your hear one last time before replying, "Y-yeah.."

"What's wrong?" he asks, frowning a little. "What if i die? What if you die? What if everyone dies?" you grip your hair tightly, gritting your teeth. It was unusual of you to be like this, you were known to be calm and collected but right now you were the complete opposite.

"We won't die, we trained hard for years to be soldiers. If we do die, it will be for a good reason. No one's death should be meaningless." he puts a hand on your shoulder. "Actually, after all of this, I need to tell you something." he looks at you with a soft expression,

"So please stay alive, (Y/N). Don't die on me." he gives a smile, you could see him do his best to remain calm but he was as scared as you, maybe even more scared.

"I will," you nod, "Don't die on me too, okay?"

"Of course, this is me we're talking about!" he jokes, ruffling your hair and leaving to go to his squad. You gripped your blades tightly, looking at the scene around you before jumping into battle.

~~

Everything was over, the boulder plugged up the wall. The plan worked, Eren did it and humanity had its first win. You had a shaky grip on your blades, your knees wobbling.

You felt yourself give out, your knees gave up so you fell. The blades slipping out of your hands, your head hung low, your hair covering your face. You weeped, watching your vision get blurry and your tears falling onto your lap.

So many people died, your friends eaten infront of you. You remember each sick smile on every titan that devoured your friends. Their screams of agony when they were eaten bit by bit or swallowed whole. This isn't the life you had cut out for you, you never thought titans would ever break in the walls yet it happened twice.
