With a quick greeting into the quiet home, she made her way upstairs, careful not to disturb her sleeping grandmother and closed her bedroom door as silent as possible.
She tossed her book bag on her bed, the contents slightly falling out of it. She didn't care where they ended up. She was staring off into the distance, her back still against her door as she slid down and sat on the ground.
Mayumi's phone was buzzing on her bed, the ringtone slightly audible from her bed covers, but she barely paid any mind.
Atsumu would just continue to call her, and she'll answer once she can think properly.
Her heart was still racing.
She wouldn't be surprised if her face remained red forever at this point. There was no chance in hiding it. Her mind was scrambled ever since Shinsuke-senpai held her hands tight, and gentle. Ever since he said those words to her.
"I want you to only see me."
They have been around each other for almost three years, so when did he become such a ... man? Since when could her heart race like this?
Not even Bokuto and his blinding smile had her acting like a ... like a ...
Well, Mayumi wasn't sure what this feeling was. She was surrounded by guys all the time, so why did Shinsuke strike a chord in her that has never been played before?
Was she just feeling ill? It was later than usual and she has yet to have dinner. Perhaps she was just hungry or constipated.
Yeah that's it, she's not well, and Shinsuke was looking out for her like the good guy he is. He was always there for her, watching over her, so why did it feel so different?
-----------------
After making a quick snack for herself, an hour had passed and another call from Atsumu came in, it was time to face the music.
If the music was him non-stop questioning her.
"Hi ther-"
"OH NOW YOU PICK UP? YOU BAKA. I WAS SCARED THAT YOU-."
She zoned out fairly quickly.
Honestly, Mayumi didn't remember much of their conversation that night.
They are back on good terms, he wasn't mad at her, and she has to buy him a yogurt drink as punishment for not answering his calls.
It was for the best that she doesn't remember the details of what he said anyways, the boy could talk her ear off about anything and nothing at the same time.
That was his true talent in her eyes: annoying him.
He would be the type of kid that would irritate a kidnapper so much, they would return him.
-----------------
Mayumi had a whole day to relax and get her thoughts together, she even spent time baking her sweet milk bread for her grandmother after catching up on her studies. She was convinced that she was back to her normal self by the time she made it to the school gym for Monday morning practice.
