"Look behind you!!"
She heard the voice echo through the phone and within the restaurant that the Inarizaki team was currently in.
She looked behind her, against her own better judgement and saw Akaashi and Bokuto, the latter waving his hands in the air - standing next to a guy with weirdly-styled black hair , and a smaller two-toned boy who was focused on his phone.
Inarizaki + new additions for some good ol' team bonding?
How bad can it be?
At first, it was actually pleasant.
Bokuto sat next to her, pushing Atsumu out of his seat. During their, very loud, arguing over whose seat it rightfully was, the remaining three brought over extra chairs and sat wherever they could. Leaving the quiet newcomer to settle next to Mayumi.
Mayumi got acquainted the most with the smaller of the two new arrivals - Kozume Kenma who was a setter at Nekoma High, also in Tokyo. Granted there wasn't much that Kenma and her could talk about besides volleyball. His interests in video games went right over her head and he tried not to bring it up after she said her only video game was Animal Crossing.
But once Kenma turned to his PSP to continue his game, it was game over for Mayumi.
The other player from Nekoma - and their captain - Kuroo Tetsurou, maneuvered himself between Kenma and Mayumi. His smirk was worse than Atsumu's, in terms of unnerving.
"So kitten, how did Bokuto manage to get a girl like you?"
Yet Mayumi didn't catch the rest of his sentence after 'kitten'.
"That's not my name."
"That's the whole point of a nickname, kitten." By now they had the attention of the boys surrounding them, excluding Kenma and Suna who were much busier on their own devices.
"Then call me a nickname that makes sense, I'm not a cat." She was sure that an irk mark was visible at this point. It was unexpected to see Mayumi argue with someone that she just met - the twins were taking it all in, their eyes following between the two of them like it was the middle of a volleyball match.
Her annoyance didn't seem to deter him, if anything - his smirk seemed to widen with her words.
He reached up, moving to tuck a stray piece of her hair away.
"Why not, you're cute like one-"
Until his hand was stopped.
