Song: Love Me Tomorrow - Tech N9ne

15 – Lillith

When I wake up, I'm in a castle. I don't recall falling asleep but I know we left Prince Covan's castle, so where am I? I look away from the ceiling, my eyes wandering the room until they fall on Obi asleep in a chair beside the bed. I know what that means. I got hurt badly, but how? Tears well up in my eyes as I remember what happened. I killed my father because he tried to kill me. Oh no... I killed my father so that means Carline and the kids are left alone. I have to see them. I go to move the blanket off of me but only one arm is cooperating. My right arm is heavily wrapped in bandages with a sling tied around it. That's wonderful, everything I've ever wanted and more. I sigh and get to my feet despite my body's protests. Falling hurt more than I thought it would.

"Where are you going?"

"I have to go see them." I answer as I hobble toward the door.

"You have an arrow embedded in your shoulder, a broken arm, and a fractured ankle. You can't exactly go anywhere right now." Obi argues as he tries to gently steer me back to the bed.

"Wait, there's an arrow in me?"

"The arrowhead you were shot with has barbs, I guess for-"

"For attacks, not hunting." I sigh. "Of course. Father made them in case of wars or defending the home. They cause damage."

"I didn't want to risk removing it myself and Prince Raji's-"

"We're in Shenazard Castle!?" I cut him off. "No! I'm out of here."

"What's wrong wit-"

"My dearest Lilly Pad!" Prince Raji cheers as he tosses the door open. "I thought I heard your musical voice!"

"That's what's wrong with Shenazard Castle." I grumble as the prince approaches before plastering on a fake smile. "Hello Prince Raji."

After what feels like a thousand hours of torture, Obi returns after abandoning me like a traitor, and rescues me. He tells me under Master's orders he's supposed to get me back to Wistal Castle as soon as possible so the arrow can be removed. Raji whines that he didn't get to see me for very long but I remind him that I have an arrow in my arm and it really hurts, so he lets me leave with half-hearted promises of trying to see him again soon. I'd rather not. I say my goodbyes to him and allow Obi to help me out of the room.

"'My Dearest Lilly Pad'?" Obi snickers as we walk through the halls.

"Shut up."

"I didn't even know that you knew Prince Raji."

"Prince Zen sent me, Seven, and Two out here once as a favor for Prince Raji as extra defense during a meeting with another kingdom. He apparently fell madly in love with me but sometimes refers to me as his daughter if another male came around me." I sigh. "Also, I hope you know that I guarantee that our herbalists won't know how to remove it either. I know how but only by doing, not by telling and I can't do it one-handed."

"Then do you have any idea on what to do? Master said that he will be returning to Clarines with Mitsuhide and Kiki in a few days after meeting with Prince Raji about the incident at Domnall and would see us in about two weeks."

Obi and I have been traveling by horseback for several days now but we've finally gotten close to where we need to go. I can't say the journey has been pleasant though. Since I can't use one arm so Obi insisted that I didn't ride behind him because I couldn't hold properly... I lost the argument so I've been sitting in front of him on the horse and of course having a barbed arrowhead buried in your shoulder hurts a lot as well. But it hasn't been all bad I guess. It's nice spending time with Obi. Too bad it's likely to be ruined by what's about to happen.

After tying off the horse, I lead Obi through the forest near the clearing we stayed the night I saw Rylan. I didn't give him specifics, but I told him that I knew someone who could get the arrow out. I just worry about how things are going to go. It's not exactly the best situation to be walking into all around. I guess Obi senses my nervousness and asks if he needs to be prepared to defend us.

"I'm not going to lie and say no, but last I knew, who we're going to see isn't likely to actually attack, they may just posture like they're going to in hopes of scaring us off."

"Who are we going to see?"

"My siblings, of course." I shrug. "But do not say what happened with Father and I. If it comes up, I'll find a way to tell them. Also, you may be hugged by my older sister, just hug her back. She has mental delays and likes physical contact."

"So how many people am I expecting to see?"

"Four. My sister Carline, the twins Rylan and Maila, and my little brother Asher. Carline is twenty-four, the twins are almost fifteen, and Asher is four."

I feel a lump in my throat as I catch sight of the cottage through the trees. Father settled it in the center of a field on the far edge of the forest. There's still a large section of trees surrounding the field but on the other sides are the farmer fields. Complete privacy all around. As we step into the edge of the tree line, I hold out my good arm to stop Obi from going any further. There's a decent stretch of tall grass on all sides and my father laced it with various traps. I voice that to Obi as I tell him to walk where I walk exactly. I look up and a smile immediately crosses my face.

"We have company it seems."

"Lilly! Lilly! Lilly!"
