quarantined streets

I'm walking down the forbidden streets,

They were full once.

It hurts to hear that there are people who sacrifice,

Because they're scared of sacrificing.

Those are the men and women who are hurting others with their mindset.

And their mindset kills others with their actions.

Other people, real lives, don't deserve the collateral damage that others are making.

The signs that they create,

And the hate that each one says.

It is disgusting,

to read,

"Sacrifice the Weak and reopen"

When what should open is their hearts out to the immuno-compromised and the high risk.

Because now,

The same people who were fighting for a cure for cancer,

Are the same people who are campaigning for their death.

I'm walking down the forbidden streets,

Metaphorically, responsibly,

Because the children that I see inside those windows are scared,

And stressed, and hurting.

And the same adults that are supposed to care for the weak are now campaigning for their death.

So no, I will not be silent.

I will fight from the confines of my home,

And stand up for those who can't themselves.

Because those streets will be full again,

And the stores will be open,

And the smiles will be wide.

But it all depends on who stays inside.
