Aro's eyes watched as Caius paced the small section of the library he sat in.

"You know, brother, as vampires we don't become dizzy." Aro stated dryly, turning a page of the book he was reading. "But your incessant pacing is close to having that effect on me."

Caius glared at his raven haired soul-brother.

"Aro, perhaps a little more interest from you on this matter." He growled out. "She refuses to eat, I've never seen a newborn capable of that kind of resilience." His hand came up to tug slightly at his already mussed hair.

Aro sighed and placed the book down, placing his hands together and steepling his chin atop his fingertips.

"Brother, you forced the change upon your mate without conversing with her." He started. "She seems incredibly stubborn if what you told me of earlier is anything to go by."

Caius growled, thinking of the events that had taken place earlier, near 2 days after his mate had awoken from the change.

The door swung open and Evelyn's throat began to burn so intensely that she genuinely wondered if she was on fire.

Caius carried through a limp body, placing it on the couch before looking towards the window, where Evelyn still sat on the floor where he had left her the day almost 2 days previous.

"What is that?" She asked, eyeing the body wearily.

"I thought perhaps you were hungry." Caius told her, being gentle with his tone though he was beginning to grow frustrated, the mating bond pulling and tugging angrily as he attempted to stay away from her as per her wishes. "She's unconscious, she won't feel a thing. I had hoped that it would be easier for you this way."

Evelyn stared at the unconscious girl with hunger in her eyes, which were a shade less than black. She was beautiful and so young.

Evelyn shook her head. She was somebody's daughter. Just like Evelyn had been.

"Take her away, I don't want her." She said, trying to tear her eyes away from her would-be meal.

Caius damn near fell to his knees. "Please, beloved, if you do not drink you'll only feel worse." He pleaded.

His only answer was silence. He looked towards the meal and brought her arm to his mouth, using his teeth to slice into her skin.

The second the blood began to bleed out, Evelyn's head snapped up, her expression animalistic as she darted towards the couch.

She snarled as she braced herself against the back of the couch, trying to look away from the blood. But her need to bite was overpowering her mind.

She lunged, biting in as hard as she could, screaming in agony as the venom that coated her mouth rushed through her own unmoving bloodstream.

Caius' heart clenched as Evelyn sunk her teeth into her own arm, biting down hard.

"Felix!" He called, pointing to the girl when the guard entered.

Caius gently grabbed Evelyn's arm, pulling it from her mouth and gathering her against his chest as she rode out the pain.

"Why would you do that?" He raised his voice slightly, more worried than angry.

"I won't do it, I won't kill somebody else's daughter, I wont take from her family what you took from mine." She cried, pulling away from him.

His heart sank as he took one last look at her before disappearing from his chambers.

"That and her gifts combined make her extraordinary." Aro told him. "Marcus see's the bond between you is strained and you may lose her regardless of immortal status. Perhaps it is time to do what should have been done in the first place."

Caius could only look at him confused and angry.

"She was human, part of her is still trying to be. Get to know her, stop forcing our lifestyle on her in ways she is not yet ready to accept."

Understanding bloomed in Caius' eyes and he was gone instantly.

"You're welcome." Aro muttered, picking up his book and continuing from where he had been before he'd been rudely interrupted.

When the door opened, I refused to glance his way, knowing it was Caius simply by how my chest relaxed as he drew closer.

He knelt next to me and offered something to me.

I turned to look, my entire body burning and lurching when I saw that bag filled with red.

"We are lucky to have a hospital close by. I had one of the guards retrieve this for you. The person who donated this is still living and will not miss it." He said softly, offering it once more.

I reached for it, ignoring my internal disgust. As soon as I had it in my grasp, I tore through the plastic, sucking each droplet of that sweet nectar until I was licking the plastic, though there was nothing left.

A pale hand took the empty pack from me and I cringed with humiliation.

"You are so beautiful, mia cara." He spoke softly, a fingertip moving a string of hair from my eyes.

"I don't want to be here." I whispered, feeling pain at the hurt expression that overtook his face.

"I know," He said as he stood. "Would you like me to leave?"

I nodded and not a second later, I was alone.

I stood, expecting to feel stiff for not having moved in ours, but I feel nothing.

A step in front of me was an open window, no glass or curtains. Just a stone arch built into the wall. I swung my legs over and sat, dangling a long way from the ground.

Before, I would have been terrified, but knowing now that I was almost indestructible, I just felt some peace.

I was desperate to go home. My phone had been taken from me. I'm guessing around the same time that my humanity had been stolen as well.

I understood now, what Bella often talked about in terms of how she felt about Edward. I guess, if I ever make it home, I owe her an apology.

I took a deep breath and made a decision that I hoped I wouldn't regret. All I could do was hope that Alice was still watching my decisions.
