Zoella POV
After my visit to the Gutierrez family, I decided to stroll over to the bus station, hoping to find Eva waiting for me there. Just as I was making my way, the sun barely shifted, and suddenly, rain began to pour down, catching everyone off guard. I had braced myself for the chill, but I hadn't anticipated getting soaked. To my dismay, I realized I wasn't even wearing my coat; I must have left it behind at the Gutierrez mansion. With a heavy sigh, I thought to myself that things couldn't possibly get any worse. But, of course, they did. By the time I reached the bus station, my clothes were drenched, and I plopped down on a bench in the shade, anxiously waiting for a bus that seemed to be in no hurry to arrive. I couldn't help but wonder why I was being put through this miserable day; I just wanted someone to rescue me from this predicament.
As I sat there, I overheard a guy nearby mumbling something, and for a moment, I thought he was addressing me, but it turned out he was just on a phone call. To make matters worse, I noticed my wet white T-shirt clinging to me, revealing my bra, and my once neat bun had turned into a tangled mess.
He offered me his jacket, clearly hoping I'd take it to shield myself from the chilly air. Seriously God, is this the kind of guy you want me to meet right after a breakup?
I glanced at him, feeling a bit bewildered at the thought of running into another guy so soon.
"Uh, you might want to cover up because that top is pretty see-through," he remarked. I hesitated to accept it; I didn't want to give him any leverage. "No offense, but I can see what you've got underneath," he added, making it even more awkward.
Eventually, I took the jacket, not out of desire but necessity, wrapping it around myself. "Thanks," I muttered.
Just as he handed it over, a car pulled up nearby. Was that his ride? I wondered. A bodyguard stepped out, holding an umbrella. "Sir," he called out.
"Why are you late?" the guy asked, sounding a bit annoyed.
"I'm really sorry, sir; the car broke down, and we had to arrange another one... I apologize," the bodyguard said, bowing his head in respect.
He just smiled and replied, "It's okay."
"Let's go, sir," the bodyguard said, holding the umbrella over him as he climbed into the car. He glanced back at me through the window just before the car drove away.
I didn't even get a chance to ask for his name, so how am I supposed to return his jacket?
When I finally got home about thirty minutes later, I was still damp from the rain. Eva noticed how pale I looked and immediately handed me a steaming cup of hot cocoa, which is always a comforting treat for me. "Zoe, where did you score this leather jacket? It looks really pricey, and I don't think I've seen it in your closet before," she remarked.
I took a sip of my cocoa and replied, "Yeah, it's definitely on the expensive side... a stranger gave it to me."
Eva raised an eyebrow, clearly trying to process what I just said. "So, you're saying a stranger just handed you his jacket?" she asked, her tone of disbelief and curiosity.
"Exactly," I confirmed.
"A stranger?" she repeated, mimicking my earlier words.
"Yes, I just said that! Can I please enjoy my cocoa without being interrogated?" I shot back playfully.
"You do realize what that means, right?" she pressed on.
I frowned, "Uh-huh, that he was just being nice."
"No, silly! It means he could be the one for you," she said with a grin. "Think about it—meeting a stranger and him giving you his jacket is kind of romantic."
