Third Person POV
On team one was Kyome, Lev, Inuoka and Yaku while team two had Kenma, Kuroo, Yūki and Kai. Since they were playing with only 4 players on each side instead of 6, the positions were slightly modified with each position being more in between the normal positions, ex. Kuroo is between 5th and 6th position.
First to serve was Kyome. She closes her eyes and takes a slow breath, calming herself as she would do in a normal game, letting it out she opens her catlike eyes and tosses the ball up, little to no spin on it. She pushes off to a run/jog and leaps up, hitting the ball against her palm before landing in the court and watching as Kuroo and Kenma gets ready in the front while Yuki and Kai mimic in the back row. The ball floats far before dropping down in between Yuki and Kai. Yuki takes action quickly and swiftly moves under the ball, sending a clean pass to Kenma.
Kyome's POV
'And we're off' I think to myself, a smile on my face as we all move into position. I move in close with the tall boy, Lev I think his name was, as Kenma sets the ball up to Kuroo. I see a smirk on Kuroo's face as he spikes it past us only for it to drop a little when Yaku receives it with a smirk of his own, sending it up somewhat close to the net.
'Not yet...' I think to myself, not wanting or needing to dump it yet. "Lev!" I shout as I set it over to him, trying to be mindful of his height, I set the ball higher than normal. I was completely unprepared for what happened next. Lev jumped high into position and swung his tree length arms towards the ball................ and missed... completely. The ball hit him on the head and rolled away as he landed back down, a dumbfounded expression fell on my face as I hear Kuroo start laughing and Yaku facepalm behind me. "What the heck just happened" I mutter to myself. On the other side of the net, Kenma comes over and pokes my side "Don't mind, he always does this" he tells me and pats my head before going back to his spot. I laugh off this little fail and look at my little team "C'mon boys, well get em next set" I tell them with a smile. Lev, Yaku and Inuoka send they're own smiles back, getting into the game, they get into position, ready to receive the back.
Kenma picks up the ball and heads to the service line, sending the ball over with a simple serve and jogging back to position. "Mine!" I hear Yaku shout before receiving the ball and sending it to me as I move towards the net. I get under it and send it to Inuoka who slams it down behind Kuroo and Kai, who tried to block it. "Yeah!" We all shout together as we score a point. "Nice kill!" I tell Inuoka with a slight thumbs up. I love how happy volleyball makes me. Before I started I was almost exactly like Kenma, quiet and pretty antisocial. Since I joined, I've opened up, met new people and made all types of different relationships even though I can have my quiet moments.
"Lev! Nice serve" Inuoka says as we all rotate, Lev being up to serve. To say he had some power was an understatement, he could be a beast. As if his height alone wasnt a good weapon, his strength is amazing, if only he could aim properly. I watch as the ball flies across the net and........... striaght outside the court. I couldn't help but laugh at this point "Lev, you need to work on your skills" I say as Kuroo bursts out laughing again, this time doubled over and holding his stomach. I see Kenma and Yaku facepalm again as those watching started laughing with us. Lev turns to us all, claiming it's not funny but that only makes us laugh harder. "Calm down or you'll stop the match now" Nekomata-sensei shouts to us. It takes us a few minutes but we eventually calm down and get back into position. Kuroo picks up the ball and prepares to serve. Tossing it up, he gives a strong jump serve, sending it straight to me. I see him smirk once again 'I'm starting to think Bedbead has a smirking obsession' I think to myself before moving out of the way and letting Inuoka recieve the ball "Serving to the setter, that's low even for you" I say jokingly before jumping up to the ball and dump it over the net. Kenma must have seen it coming since he moved to recieve it while Kai was the only one in the air, ready to block Lev, or at least try to. Thankfully, he doesn't get to it in time and we score another point, the score now being 2-2.
Guys I literally cried after writing this. When I finally finished this chapter, wattpad decided it wasnt going to work properly and didnt save any of it so when I came back, almost the whole match was gone. I'll rewrite the rest of the match tomorrow (it's really late rn) but like that was so stressful. Thankfully this still managed to be a 1000 word chapter💕 Hope you guys enjoyed it, I'll make sure to make a update schedule for this soon
