Silence filled the waters with a feeling of toxicity filling the ocean as barnacles saw everything in slow motion as he watched ocean watcher swim away
He stood there for a few moments before deciding that he wasn't going to give up on him just yet
He took one step
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
"Who's there?!" As he looked around in the kelp forest swimming around
"Suprised you don't recognize my voice anymore" as he swam out from the kelp
"Tracker..?!"
"The one and only" as he bowed snobbishly
"Ocean watcher is pretty worn out after yesterday so I'd like if you leave him be"
"His name is shellington hes not ocean watcher deep down he wants to come back"
"Well he can't go back now, if he does he'll know what it feels like to be a failure, do you really want him to feel that way? I mean hes been through enough hasn't he?"
Barnacles looked down at the ground
"I can't give up on him, hes an octonaut! Just like me-"
Suddenly tracker grabbed barnacles collar and pushed him against a coral reef wall
"He's NOTHING like you. He's more than you'll ever be."
"Tracker. I thought we were friends"
"Oh we were trust me." As he let go and turned around
"That was until you found your other friends, and suddenly you choose them over me, your childhood friend and during that time you hadn't known them for a year"
"Tracker that day I left I told you it was all for the best!"
"So I have you to blame for ruining everything"
"I. No!"
"Fine. Talk to him as you wish but know nothing will change his mind"
As tracker swam aside
Barnacles hesitatainly swam upward onto a hill of sand and eventually lead to a beach
He walked onto the sand turning off his helmet
He spotted shellington staring off into the sunset as he sat on the grass
"May I join you..?"
"Sure" without even flinching
Barnacles then sat down on the soft wet sand beside him
"Shellington listen to me, you can't keep going on like this. I.. I figured if you said your fine and your fine with being ocean watcher then that's the way things are"
"..."
"And this is your life. And if you want me to say out of it then I can do that but.. if your stuck because tracker keeps saying that this is what you wanna be then that's different"
"..."
"I want you to know that everyone including me are very sorry. And that were always here now, I'm here to help you-"
"Thanks but no, let's not talk about this anymore"
As he began to walk away from the polar bear
"Hold on!" As he grabbed his arm
"Let go of me!-"
"Don't walk away-listen to me! Dammit!'"
"Why?! It won't change anything! I have so many more things I could do than listen to you!"
Silence filled the air once again, but barnacles grip on shellington never loosened, and due to shellingtons mass injuries he couldn't yank himself away that easily
"I'm fine just the way I am!"
"That's a lie! You wanna be an octonaut again your just afraid, so stop being a coward already! All you have to do is just come back and everything will be fine again!"
"Why does everyone want me to be an octonaut huh?! Its all about me, my talents my abilities I'm ocean watcher! Your just gonna use me!
I said I'm fine so just leave me alone!"
"COME ON SHELLINGTON YOUR NOT FINE AND THATS A LOT OF BULLSHIT!"
shellington flinched harshly
"YOUR NOT FINE AND YOU KNOW IT!"
Barnacles sighed to calm himself and spoke in a softer tone
"We apologized. And you know you don't want to be ocean watcher, you wanna come back but tracker is holding you back he acts like your friend when really he just makes up excuses to make sure you can't come back, why can't you see that we changed!"
And for the first time in forever, shellington had no idea what to argue back, or what to say because for the first time shellington was in the wrong
"you can't keep pushing us away. Please take my hand and we can fix everything, everyone misses you please, me, kwazii, tweak dashii professor inkling and peso even thought you've frightened him-"
Shellington then roared at him completely catching barnacles off guard as shellington pushed him to the edge of the cliff
"SHUT THE HELL UP-DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE ALONE?! TO HAVE THE WEIGHT OF EVERYONES SAFETY ON YOUR SHOULDERS? THAT YOU HAVE TO SAVE EVERYONE?! WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I QUIT HUH?! WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE ENTIRE OCEAN IF IM GONE?!!!"
barnacles just stared into the hurt boys eyes feeling pitiful
"YOU SEE?! YOU DON'T KNOW SO FOR THE LAST TIME WOULD YOU LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE? DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?! I CAN'T GO BACK!!!"
"Shellington listen to me"
"Your right I don't know what you feel I don't know what I put you through, but I do know one thing.. we both don't know what the future holds, so how can you be sure that the ocean will fall apart?"
"..."
"Exactly we don't know. You can't be sure what the future of the ocean guarantees deep down you want to be an octonaut I know that, but your letting tracker get to your head, your letting him put all these lies in your head acting like he knows everything when really no one knows everything"
That's the point when shellington finally broke down, sobbing and sobbing and sobbing
Barnacles then let go of his arm and wrapped him into a hug
"Please come back"
Shellington barely heard him as he just kept crying
And the captain couldn't do anything but hug him and wipe his tears
