Chelsea POV:Mum was making us go to dinner at one of our new neighbours houses. You see, we had only just moved in on Saturday and mum always likes to be friendly with the neighbours. I was dreading it and I could tell dad was. Paige wasn't, because mum had said that the neighbours had a six year old daughter that she could play with. And who was I stuck with? A boy. Great.
They lived exactly opposite us so we just had to go across the road. When they opened the door, mum and the lady had a very long conversation as if they've known each other for years. Then a man came to the door and invited us in as if he knew they would be talking for a while.
"Nice to meet you William," he said to my dad who only grunted in response. "I am Pete This is my wife Sue and these are my children Jake, Ben and Karen,"
'Jake Ben and Karen' were standing at the bottom of the stairs, one on each step. I smiled at the the younger two then my eyes widened when they landed on the eldest. Jake Brockman. Jake Bloody Brockman.
He went to my school and was in all my classes. He seemed to have the same reaction. I just smiled awkwardly but luckily the two mums had finished their conversation and Sue invited us to sit at the table.
Halfway through dinner, which turned out to be burnt because Sue accidentally put the oven on the wrong temperature, the Brockman parents decided to start up a conversation.
"So Chelsea, where do you go to school?" Pete asked.
I answered him only resulting in getting told off by mum because I was eating with my mouth full.
"Oh the same school as Jake!" Sue said excitedly. "Do you two already know each other?"
"Uh, no," I said, shaking my head slightly and the the same time Jake was mumbling,
"Well, I might have seen her somewhere,"
After dinner, Paige and Karen went into Karen's room to play X factor with Karen's toys.
"Jake, why don't you show Chelsea around the house?" Sue said.
"Um okay," he said. He had his earphones in and didn't take them out the whole time.
When we were coming down the stairs, my dad called out, "Right Chelsea were going now, PAIGE WE'RE GOING,"
Paige ran down the stairs, slightly nudging me as she passed.
I turned to Jake and smiled awkwardly. "I guess I'll er... see you... tomorrow?"
"Uh yeah, see you," he said quietly, returning the same awkward smile. I walked outside with my family and back across the road.
*Flashback*
I was standing in the classroom with Emily and Rebecca when they judged me and said, "Brockmans looking at you,"
I turned around and, sure enough, he was looking at me. He looked away quickly and I turned back to my two friends and we all started laughing.
*Flashback over*
Jake POV
I was lying in my bed thinking about that day at school. I didn't even notice I was looking at her until she looked back. Then she starting laughing. That was why today was so awkward. To make matters worse, I knew mum would have that stupid family over all the time now.
I started thinking about Chelsea. The way she walked was so... poised. Everything she did seemed in slow motion and she just seemed so angelic. No Jake! What are you thinking?
Chelsea POV
I went to my room and sat in the corner. In the dark. I checked my flip phone and the time was 12:29. My arm hurtled like hell.
The corner was a place I would go to if I wanted time to think. If it was during the night, I would often end up falling to sleep there. I have my sleeping bag there and a pillow for when I sleep.
Of cource normally I would sleep in my bed but today I wanted to sleep in the corner.
I fell asleep thinking about my evening with the Brockmans. Little did I know that this little visit would spark possibly the best friendship I would ever have.
