This week I started hanging out with Kelly a bit more. Mum was worried because Kelly is quite a few years old than me and so she thinks I'm easily influenced by her. I don't see why I should be influenced in any way. Anyway, she's glad I'm not spending all my time with Jake (for the past three weeks I had been at his house all time and mum was starting to get suspicious). We were walking down our our road with some other girls when we passed Jake and his other mates. Sue was in the car waiting for Jake.
"Did you see those?" Jake said when he thought we were all out of earshot. Did they see what? I wondered. Weird.
I suppose I should tell you about the incident last week.
One of Jake's friends happens to be the neighbour of one of our teachers. He caught her sunbathing topless and... managed to get a picture and sent it to all the boys in the class. Horny idiots.
When I had gone round to Jake's, Sue was fussing about who had put the picture on the computer.
At first she thought it was Ben and he didn't know what he was doing. Then, I overheard her speaking to Pete about his mum.
"So you think your mum's just randomly turned gay and has downloaded soft porn onto the computer?" She said. I decided to leave them to it as I didn't want to interrupt that conversation.
Finally, they found out it was Jake.
But that wasn't all that was going on on the computer. Somebody had been searching cancer websites and Sue thought it was Pete's mum (honestly, why do they blame everything on her?) and turns out it was Pete. I hope he doesn't have cancer, I've become really close to every one of the Brockmans and that would just be really sad.
Lastly, somebody was gambling online and was using large amounts of money. At first sue thought it was Jake but it turns out that this time it was Peter's mum. That's the reason why she kept trying to give the Brockmans thousands and thousands of pounds when we went to London. She thought that if she gave away her money then she couldn't use if for gambling. Pretty smart I guess but a bit dumb as she'll run out of money and starve.
The next day, I was at the Brockmans again. No doubt would something happen again. There were going to be visitors later to look at the house to see if they wanted to buy it. I didn't realise this until they actually arrived. Something was definitely going to happen. Nothing ever goes the way the Brockmans want it.
Aaaand I was correct. When me and Jake went into the kitchen after we got back from school, we noticed a pidgeon.
"Jake, Chelsea, don't go into the kitchen, it's temporarily out of bounds," Sue said.
"What because of the bird?" Jake asked.
"What?"
"Yeah there's a bird in here," I said.
"A bird? Oh no, for gods sake!"
"Awesome!" Ben shouted as he came into the kitchen to see.
Karen then started to shriek and everybody kicked up a fuss.
"It's an omen!" Karen cried.
"What?"
"Mrs B told me that if there is a bird in the house, there's going to be a death,"
"Karen that's just-"
"One for sorrow," Karen said, as if that explained everything.
"That's a magpie," Jake replied.
"Yeah and this is a pidgeon. Can we keep him?" Ben asked excitedly. To be honest he reminds me a bit of myself when I was his age.
"Of cource we can't keep it."
