Gasps emerged from across the Great Hall, and at this point, practically everyone had their eyes on us. His nose was dripping blood, and my hand was throbbing at this point.

I shook my hand in the air hoping the pain would go away, but it didn't. In fact, the pain was satisfying.

"I'll kill you," Avery growled beneath his breath. I laughed at his comment continuing to hold my chin high.

"I'd like to see you try," I said looking down at the taller boy as if he was scum on the bottom of my shoe. He partially was.

Lestrange began to pull his wand out as if he was experienced enough to throw a spell at me. Perhaps he was.

"That's enough, all of you," Riddle said looking between Avery, Lestrange, and me. I couldn't tell what was more surprising, that he acted as if he had complete and utter control of everything around him or the fact that Avery and Lestrange listened without questioning him.

"What's it to y-" I began but was cut off by the approaching faculty.

"You four, my office," Professor Dippet said looking from Avery, Lestrange, Riddle, and me. He began to walk away, expecting us to follow. Getting kicked out of Hogwarts my first day in?

The walk to the office was long, and the tension was thick.

Once arriving in his office, he waved his wand and four leather chairs appeared moving to sit directly in front of his desk. He sat down, looking over his oval shaped glasses to look at the lot of us.

"Violence is never the answer, now will one of you please tell me what happened," Dippet said, making eye contact with each of us.

"She punched me in the face!" Avery exclaimed, "That is assault,"

I laughed leaning forward to look at his bloody face. I was definitely proud of this one, "Oh yeah? It was a pretty good punch too, I swear I saw some tears come," I teased, a playful smirk on my face.

Avery tried standing up to attack me, so I decided to do the same but Lestrange held Avery back and Riddle put his arm out to prevent me from attacking him. Again.

"Enough! Miss Rafferty, what initiated this?" Dippet asked, looking at me.

"He called Miss Goodfellow a Mudblood, and I'm sorry sir but I believe that should never go-" I hesitated looking from Dippet to Avery and then back to the Headmaster, "Unnoticed."

I noticed the change in my voice as I talked to Dippet. I was much softer and more calm talking to him. It was unnatural for me.

Dippet nodded looking at the four of us.

"Lestrange, I must express how important it is, no matter what you must never draw your wand on someone. That will NEVER be tolerated. Do I make myself clear?" Dippet asked, looking at Lestrange.

"Yes, Headmaster," He said, smiling at the Headmaster. He was kissing Dippets ass to save his own. Classic.

His eyes landed on Riddle next, the corners of his lips peeking into a smile.

"I must say, I am rather pleased of your self-control Tom, and the ability to stand up to you friends. Twenty points to Slytherin." Dippet said.

I watched as Riddle smiled at the Headmaster, but it was obvious he was forcing the smile to appear on his face.

"Of course, sir,"

Something about the way his voice came out gave me goosebumps. It was so forced, so imitated. It was as if he was changing his voice so the Headmaster would hear what he wanted.

"As for you three will serve detention with Slughorn, Friday night. He will be pleased to have you help organize his beakers by size," Dippet siad. I internally groaned at the thought of doing something so boring on a Friday night.

"Of course, Headmaster." Avery said while holding onto his bloody nose, although his voice was laced with straight poison.
