Curiosity was a dangerous thing.

I watched as Riddle left the common room disappearing into the darkness. A few Slytherins were up, myself included, but usually, no one left the common room at midnight.

Of course, I found it my duty to follow him.

I peered up from my book on advanced charm spells and looked around at the Slytherins. A couple was making out in the corner, a few were studying, and a few of the Slytherin girls were gossipping.

No one would notice if I slipped out. Surely if they hadn't noticed Riddle, they wouldn't notice me.

I stood up placing the book on the chair and quickly walked out of the common room. In situations like these, I always found it best to act as if you were supposed to be doing the wrongdoing. It worked every time.

The hallways were dark, and as I quietly exited the entrance of the common room I could barely see Riddle in the distance. His silhouette was dark, and small due to how far away he was.

I slowly followed behind him making sure to check any corner and turn for any lurking professors or prefects. It was clear from any danger. It was perfect, too perfect.

I followed him quietly through the castle until he reached the library. Why was he sneaking off to the library at such a time?

When I turned the corner to continue following behind him, he was no longer in front of me. In fact, he was no longer in sight. I scrunched my eyebrows looking at the area he had once been standing, but now it was filled with complete darkness.

"If you're going to follow someone you should probably take off your shoes," He said from behind me, causing me to nearly jump sky high.

"Bastard!" I exclaimed grabbing onto my chest after nearly having a heart attack.

"Don't follow me," He said calmly, but from the way his eyes changed, I could tell it was an order.

"What are you doing in the library at midnight?" I asked curiously, my heart pounding in my chest from the encounter.

"I could ask you the same thing," Riddle said. I looked down the hallway making sure no one was approaching and then back to him.

"Following you, of course," I said trying to make it seem as casual as possible. I even sent him a fake smile, although there was nothing amusing about the situation.

He didn't reply, instead, he looked back down the long corridor, and then back to me. "Do you want me to show you?"

My mind instantly jumped to conclusions. He could be talking about anything.

Anything.

But, curiosity got the better of me.

"Yes," I said not knowing what he was talking about, but quite frankly did not care. I was curious as to what was so important that Riddle, the boy who was never seen doing wrongdoings, would risk his perfect reputation for. At midnight for that matter.

"It'll be our little secret," He said, his lips perking into a charming smile. His voice was seducing, it nearly caused me to forget why we were here. I almost forgot why we were standing alone in the dark corridor, but I quickly snapped out of it.

"Alright, let's go," I said walking backward and towards wherever his original destination was.

___

I had been at Hogwarts for three years now, yet somehow I didn't know there was a restricted section tucked away in the back of the library. My siblings had failed to mention it, if I would have known about it I would have most certainly snuck out during the night.

"Wicked," I said examining the books that were restricted to most Hogwarts students. Riddle peered around for a moment, before looking back at the books.

"Don't be reckless," He warned.

"Since when am I reckless?" I asked sarcastically, turning to face him. A smirk played at my lip at my words, of course, I was reckless.

I continued to examine the books, noticing a book slightly out of place. It was so subtle I was surprised I had even noticed it. I recognized part of the title from what Riddle had been reading in the restricted section at Flourish and Blotts.

THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HOGWARTS LEGEND.

I pulled my eyes away from the book, trying to think of what the title meant, and why he was so interested in it.

"What is the Chamber of Secrets?" I asked, knowing it was the only way to get answers. His eyes quickly flashed to me, and I could tell this was something I should not have asked about.

"I never asked about your sudden interest in Dark Arts symbols," Riddle said, reminding me of the day I was plagued with my nightmares.

"Okay," I said, taking that as a sign that I shouldn't ask anymore. Although, I was positive we both knew that was not going to happen.

I continued pacing beside the bookshelves when I tripped on my own footing. I went to grab a hold of him, scared of the humiliation of falling in front of Riddle. But, that was the least of my worries as I grabbed onto him, being ripped through the time dimension.

Tom Riddle's future.
