ahhh, yes. that fresh breath of new york air.

it's those city strolls that really make you appreciate the big apple. except for the occasional rat skittering across the sidewalk. also, it's not that fresh of a breath either. kinda smells like hotdogs and pollution and whatever the hell is coming from the sewer grates.

but, it's my new home. and i love it.

i just moved here from upstate for an internship after graduating college, and i am beyond excited. i've lived upstate for most of my life, but i no doubt prefer the city.

my apartment might be kinda shitty, but i can make it work. it's pretty charming with all of my room's decorations. my roommates are also really nice as well.

to be honest, i'm pretty sick of moving right now. i've been non-stop unpacking boxes for two days straight and i'm still not done. i haven't gotten the chance to explore the city myself. i have an internal bucket list for my city-living life.

the number one thing on my bucket list has to be find a decent bagel shop. bagels are my favorite food in the world and i would quite literally kill for an everything bagel with cream cheese right now.

i have a lot of extra time on my hands since my internship doesn't start till two weeks from now. i've mapped out some bagel shops near me from google maps and lemme tell you, i am bound to find at least one superb bagel shop.

first to explore on my list: tompkin's square bagels.

i step out of my apartment building and into the warm new york air. i pull out my phone and type 'tompkin's square bagels' into apple maps.

i slowly make my way down the busy sidewalks, admiring the sunny day. the sun bounces off the skyscrapers, illuminating the very tops. it's so nice to be able to take your time when walking through the city.

after walking about two blocks, i finally make it to my first bagel destination. i look the quaint little shop up and down before opening the door and heading inside.

the instant waft of fresh bagels crowded my nose, and made me even hungrier. i slip into the end of the line for the cashier and start looking at the menu.

i browse the specials and choose a simple bagel with rainbow cream cheese in the middle. i've never had rainbow cream cheese before, so this will definitely be a good place to get my first.

i start to scope out the restaurant for a good table. i mentally choose one near the front that looks the cleanest. once i get up to the front of the line, i give the cashier my order and pay.

my first official new york bagel purchase.

the cashier gives me my order number and i go sit down at my table. i pull out my phone and scroll through instagram to pass time.

while i'm scrolling, i notice someone walk in the shop. it's a tall, lanky boy with dark curly brown hair wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap.

kinda cute, i think. he looks oddly familiar too. i feel like i've definitely seen him before.

he breezes past me as he gets into the end of the line for the cashier.

damn, where have i seen him before? i wrack my brain to try and dig up where i could've possibly seen him before.
