//////here is my ass snack of a prologue/////////

Percy is a country boy, as country as they come after staying with his dad on the farm back in Texas for the last twenty some odd years he decided to spend a month with his mother in the big ol'city of New York.

Artemis is a city girl almost opposite to percy, she has grown up in the city all her life never venturing out unless on trips with her wealthy family. But it was also a fact to her that she wanted to get out find somewhere new being in the city all her life wasn't making her as happy as she would've hoped.

Percy POV
I pressed my foot slightly on the accelerator as the beat up pick truck groaned at the fast speeded road leading into the city. My eyes felt droopy but were only kept open from the bright lights of the city against the dimming sky. My body was starting to feel the 26 hour drive as a yawn filled the empty truck. Although I was used to this after working on the farm your whole life especially when the fields need worked and it is that time of the season when all the animals are birthing. I sigh shaking my head as I turned up the radio to keep me occupied from cursing out the city of which I wasn't fond of. I had been up here a couple of times on my own to visit mom and her new husband Paul but I'm never one to stay in the city this would be the first time I actually stayed for more than twos weeks. Mom was usually the one to visit she'd come down to the Ranch, which luckily for us took some of the work load off with two extra people, an added bonus was that both my parents were on good terms or in better wording were friends. Pulling my hand through my hair as I turned onto a quieter street out of the way of all the traffic I let off the gas peddle. I probably wasn't the best person to be in the city I got fed up with it quickly with the constant honking and yelling it was just a little to out there for me. But I was pleasing my mother with this and I'm way to loyal for my own good where i decided to stay for a month to make her happy it was upon suggestion of course. Which at the time was ok because we planned the trip about a month before we get ready for planting and working the field. Which in our case was a lot more work than it had to be but our giant ass farm was worth it. Taking a small glance at the street sign I fought a sigh as I turned the corner towards the last street in the sub division. Slowly driving down the street I stopped the house it wasn't to big that made it over powering but a good size for a small family which they hoped to be starting. The house was a light grey with fake bricking on the bottom half. There was a small front porch that was white making it pop against the darker colours, with a porch swing and a few chairs sat on top. The best thing about the house at the moment was the giant "WELCOME HOME PERCY!!" sign slung across the front of the house. My straight face turned into a grin as I read the big lettering scrolled across. I was happy I could still see it as the sun had just spent down and the night sky started to fill it. I pulled into the drive way slowly into the left parking spot of the drive way knowing for a fact the mom and Paul park there car on the right side of the garage. Pulling the column shifter into park I turned my lights off and took the keys out of the ignition as I propped he door open with my foot simultaneously grabbing my beat up Samsung out of the cup holder. Taking a step out of the truck I shoved my phone an keys into my pocket accompanying my wallet. Flicking the lock button on the truck I slammed the door closed as I walked back to the box of the truck. Peeking over I spotted my bag which I reached over and grabbed along with my tool box. Swinging my duffle bag over my shoulder I started walking to the passengers door of the truck, I opened in setting my tool box on the floor hidden from sight of prying eyes, locking the door as well I made my way to the steps of the house. Clenching my duffle bag straps. Over my shoulder I took a look at my truck, it was an old 1970's model darkish blue on the top half with the white strip covering the bottom, the Chevy symbol on the front was faded but still there. She was a good reliable truck and with just the right idiot could be hot wire and stolen. Letting out a small sigh I turned back to the door and gave a hard knock. Rolling up my plaid sleeves of my shit my mothers smiling face opened the door. Her arms flew around me as soon as she spotted me standing there, taking a step back on impact I held her an inch off the ground as I walked house closing the door behind me. Slightly letting go of mom, I set my bag down softly on the ground and my arms flew back around her as I said "howdy mom how's it going" Paul must've heard that because he came whipping into the main entrance plowing Into me as well. Luckily mom had unlatched herself as Paul came in for a hug or wale she would have been flattened. Clapping Paul on the back I asked the exact same thing "howdy Paul how's it going" he chuckled and stepped back as well and said "pretty good" mom took the chance to look me over not answering my question from before. Her eyes scanning my bare arms and face to see If I was ok. Looking at her I told her in a soft voice "mom I'm fine" she nodded her head and said "well cmon get in here I'm sure your hungry" nodding my head furiously I grabbed my bag scampering deeper Into the house until I found the kitchen. Setting my duffle bag on the island stools, reaching into my pockets I also took out my phone, keys and wallet, sliding them onto the island as well. When mom and Paul came in they started pulsing plates up full of food and setting them around the table to dig into. Which I did extremely quickly, I'm not one to stop while driving far other than to stretch my legs at gas stations and get a burger at McDonald's or Wendy's. I guess mom noticed my shoveling habits and said with a chuckle "Percy slow down it's like you haven't eaten in days" I gave her a half hearted smile knowing I was gonna get a stern 'Percy' along with a finger wag to the face but I ended up going with it and saying "well I mean it's not like I stopped to go have a fancy dinner I just drove" and here it comes "Percy! You're supposed to take care of yourself" I shrug and said "oh well it's fine I'm eating now aren't I" with a smirk playing on my lips we went back to eating our peaceful dinner. When our plates were clean I snagged them all before mom could and took them to the empty sink filling it up slightly. When I went back to the table I grabbed a few of the condiments that had gone with the shepherds pie that we had which I quickly put away as mom and Paul Saran Wrapped the pan of shepherds pie putting it in the fridge as well. I was about to walk out when I seen mom going towards the sink, ugh probably to wash the dishes. Quickly redirecting her I said "cmon mom I'll do the dishes tomorrow" sighing from being defeated in one sentence she sauntered off to the living room with Paul. Myself legging behind as I snagged the crusty old bitch off a phone I kept around since high school. Steering back toward the living room taking a seat on the couch as I checked my phone to find a message from dad -"make it there alive?...?" I gave a chuckle at dads wording and sarcastic replied -"ya only lost a couple fingers" Turing my phone back off I looked up to mom and Paul who had smirks on there faces looking towards me. Giving them a confused look I asked "what?" Mom gave me a cheeky smile and asked "anyone special your talking to" I gave her an evil smirk back and said "depends on what kinda special you mean" mom squeaked with excitement and asked "is it a girrrrl" laughing at her reaction I ran my hand through my hair and said surprisingly close to the truth "yes there very girlish" with a small chuckle on the end of my tongue I held it back wanting to see where she takes this conversation. She sighed shaking her head saying "that's not a very nice thing to say about your father although you're not wrong" not holding it in any longer I let out a laugh worthy of a hyena. Which rang through the house.
