Poem/Letter

september thirteenth twenty-nineteen

She cuts and she scraps
Hates all her mistakes
But when she walked through my door
I recalled her sweet face

Her soul was brought to me
My guidance she sought from me
In the end I just hope
That she has not forgotten me

I pray that my words
Flow through her like birds
And the wind from their wings
Will help the hurt from the misguided verbs

Go
Do this
Watch your brother

Kid
Watch this
You're more than your mother

You've got it inside you
That hurt, let it guide you
To all of the happiest
Places that cry to you

Please don't let it take you away
You're job is not done, hear what I say

The good you can do
It coming -- so huge
So say a quick prayer
And take some refuge

Take refuge in the words
That I have just spoken
Your only just bruised
There's nothing wrong with broken

It means that you have to piece it together
It's hard work I swear
But you'll conquer the weather
You'll do it, it's a dare

But until you see
How strong that you are
You'll alway have me
No matter how far

Distance may become a thing
But my words won't be lost
Cause you're a smart wing
And one day you'll be on top
