Kabanata 9:
The Mysterious Guy

"Lady Ezeli! Salamat at bumisita ka rito. Halika at samahan mo kami ng aking anak," bungad ng emperor kaya lumakad si Ezeli palapit rito.

Umupo naman si Ezeli kaya ganun na rin ang ginawa ng prinsipe.

"Pasensya na at naabala kita, Lady Ezeli." Nakangiting sabi ng emperor.

"No, there's nothing to worry, emperor Thaddeus." Sagot naman ni Ezeli kaya ngumiti lang ang emperor.

"I wanted to thank Lady Ezeli of this great tea. It taste great. Now I envy Duke Alberto for raising someone talented like Lady Ezeli," said the emperor and took a sip of the tea.

Ngumiti naman ng pilit si Ezeli. She's only using her knowledge about herbs since it's her work before. I don't know if the real Ezeli knows this.

Napatingin naman si Ezeli sa prinsipe na tahimik na nakamasid sa ama nito. She doesn't know but something is off about the prince, is he sick?

Kinuha ni Ezeli ang teapot at nagsalin. After that, she handed it to the prince na talagang halata na nagulat sa ginawa niya.

"You should drink, your highness," sabi ni Ezeli while wearing her soft smile. Even though inside her, she's nervous. Kung hindi niya tatanggapin, then okay.

She was about to take it back but then agad itong kinuha ng prinsipe. Nagulat si Ezeli sa ginawa nito ngunit ngumiti na lang.

"It's peppermint tea. It will help you relax and calm your mind especially when you're tired. Try not to overwork, your highness. Your position is also important, you should be careful," sabi ni Ezeli habang nilalagyan na naman ng tsaa ang teacup ng prinsipe dahil agad itong naubos.

Ang emperador naman ay nakatingin lamang sa kanila. He can't help but smile at the sight. He can't even imagine that his only son, the future emperor of the empire, is blushing right now because of a lady.

'Only Lady Ezeli can do that. I should not let Lady Ezeli go. Lady Amalia Ezeli Margaery Hermoña, is the only lady who suit to be the future mother of empire...'

"I am happy that you care too much to prince Zeno, Lady Ezeli," nakangiting sambit ng emperador.

Napatigil si Ezeli at napatingin sa emperador. The emperor misunderstood her actions towards the prince.

'I should stop,' Ezeli thought.

"It's not--"

"Well, it's okay. After all, you will be the future empress of the empire. It's good for our future emperor to have a wife like you in his side, isn't it?" The emperor added dahilan ng pagkatigil ng prinsipe.

"What?"

Agad na binalingan ng tingin ni Ezeli si prince Zeno na ngayon ay gulat na nakatingin sa ama nito. What? Don't tell me... he doesn't know?

"You heard it right, my son. You will marry Lady Ezeli in the future. I can see your future together with her and she can help you as she's a wise daughter of a closest friend of mine. Am I right, Lady Ezeli?"

Napatingin na naman si Ezeli sa emperador na ngayon ay nakangiting nakatingin sa kanya ngunit, makikita sa kanyang mga mata na seryoso siya sa kanyang sinasabi.

"B-but the prince--"

"I also heard from your father that you really love prince Zeno and that you wish to marry him," pagputol na naman ng emperador as if intensyon nitong hindi siya ipagpasalita.

"H-hindi po--" no! Wala akong sinabing gusto kong magpakasal sa kanya!

"I'm glad and relieved that it's you, Lady Ezeli. I can entrust my son to you, right?" Sabi nito at titig na nakatingin sa kanya na parang sinasabi nito na si Ezeli lamang ang kanyang gusto para sa anak nito.
