Chapter 10

"There's Yvette. Ano, alis na ko, ha?"

I looked at my watch, wala pa siyang thirty minutes na nag-stay.

He told me earlier that he need to return already in his school because he have something important to do. So he messaged Yvette to come here and join me.

"Why did you go here pa kasi? Sayang byahe," tanong ko sa kanya habang nag-aayos siya ng gamit niya.

"Baka intayin mo ko, eh," he wiggled his brows playfully.

I rolled my eyes, "You could have just text me."

This have been our routine.

Kapag yung vacant ko kasabay ng vacant niya, nagkikita kami sa cafè where we first saw each other. We just hang there and study together.

I once asked Yvette to join us but she refused for some reason. Siya naman yung lagi kong kasama sa room at sa ibang vacant na wala si Theo.

Looks like I'm actually making friends.

And surprisingly, I'm enjoying it.

"Okay na rin 'to, para nakita kita," he whispered something that I wasn't able to hear. Mukhang narinig ni Yvette kasi natawa siya.

"What?"

"Wala, sabi ko aalis na ko," he smiled widely. Tumingin siya kay Yvette,"Ikaw na bahala dyan."

"I'll do it even you don't say it," kunwaring pagtataray ni Yvete. "Go away, stop stealing my friend from me."

Theo pinched my cheeks before finally going. I glared at him, making him laugh.

"Sadz, I don't really know if you're just playing numb or what," Yvette said as she sat down. I'm still touching my cheeks that he pinched. Ang sakit kaya!

My brows furrowed, "What are you talking about?"

Tumawa siya at nailing-iling, "Oh my, Theo's in deep shit."

Mas lalong kumunot ang noo ko.

"Wala! I'm sure you'll eventually figure out what I'm talking about," she looked really entertained while saying that. Hindi na kami nakapag-aral dahil nagsimula na ulit magkwento si Yvette.

Later on that day, I was fetched by our driver. My dad asked me to go to the company for the final meeting about the hotel in Pasay.

I tied my short hair. Buti kahit papano naitatali pa. Pinabayaan ko nalang yung bangs kasi ayaw talagang magpatago kahit anong gawin ko.

My father was so shocked when he saw my haircut. He wasn't angry, but he commented that it made me not look like my mom. So, I figured out that he doesn't like it.

That's why every time we're together, I'm tying it so it wouldn't look obvious.

"The grand opening is scheduled for this coming Friday. Everything's set already."

Nakikinig lang ako sa presentation. That's three days from now.

I wasn't able to join my father for the final visit of the site weeks ago. I told him that I have so many things to do in school. Which is true, but the real reason is I'm avoiding Ash.

Nahihiya kasi ako sa kanya.

The only solution that I'm thinking is for me to tell my father to break the engagement off. And I can't do it.

I can't imagine how disappointed my father would be to me.

And even if I tell it to him, I'm not even sure if he'll allow it to happen.
