The Rafferty house was chaotic once everyone had arrived. I sat down on the couch, reading the Daily Prophet while my brothers obnoxiously told my mother about how their year was going.
"You should have seen the look on all of your faces when I let the pixies go," Spencer said laughing at the thought.
"It was not funny, and I'm trying my best not to turn you in. You could get expelled for that," Brock said from the comfort of the fireplace. He was nose deep in a book about the training of becoming an Auror.
"Oh you wouldn't do that, no Rafferty is a snitch," Clive said while preparing himself a sandwich despite the fact that it was nearly midnight.
"Spencer," Mother said in disappointment. I peered over the Daily Prophet curious if she was going to yell at him or not. "Do be more careful next time."
I smirked watching as a smile appeared on Spencer's face. Mother would not care if Spencer had blown up the house.
"Same goes with you, Myra" Mother began looking towards me. I pulled the Daily Prophet down making eye contact with her. All my brothers seemed to be interested in this.
"What are you talking about?" I asked confused as to what she was referring to.
"Socking Avery straight between the eyes, of course!" Clive exclaimed, laughing. I laughed as well.
"I forgot about that," I admitted. It was a funny memory, remembering Avery nearly crying from pain was something I did not want to forget.
Even my mother laughed.
"I do not want another letter from Dippet this year!" Mother exclaimed while sipping her tea. "Just make sure to punch him in the common room."
We all laughed at her comment. She said it under her breath trying to prevent me from hearing, but she wanted me to hear at the same time.
The night had gone on, and by early morning mother had finally brought us gifts she had bought throughout the year.
"Now, I know it's not a lot, but I don't want to raise you like one of those spoiled rich brats," Mother spat causing us to laugh. Mother did not bite her tongue, I was a lot like her in that way.
She handed each of us a few gifts, specifically bought for each of us. The gifts almost perfectly fit our personality, mother truly did know us.
Brock had gotten a few books and quills, Clive had gotten some clothes from a muggle designer he adored and some chapstick (he was going to need it), Spencer had gotten some fireworks and a book on how to build explosives, mother was definitely going to regret buying him that, and she had bought me some books on spells (that I haven't learned yet) and a few cosmetic items like lip gloss and mascara. I have never done my makeup before, it was exciting.
After we all thanked her and began to look at our gifts she quickly dismissed us. "Now, off to bed. The lot of you! It's nearly 2 am,"
We grabbed our gifts and began to leave the room. Spencer excitedly ran up the stairs ready to learn to build his own explosives. Merlin protect this house, for he would blow it up.
"Myra, wait," Mother said, grabbing ahold of my bicep.
"I got you another gift, I just didn't want the boys to see it. They'd make a big deal out of it," She explained rummaging through her belongings.
"Right," I said anticipating what she was going to give me. I felt guilty, no one ever got mother anything.
I gasped seeing the locket she pulled out. It was beautiful, with amber coloring surrounding a ferocious snake in the shape of an S. It looked as if it had belonged to royalty.
"Mother, how much was this?" I asked, holding tightly onto the locket.
"You know Hebzipah Smith? The woman who used to babysit you while I was away?" Mother asked. Of course, I remembered Hebzipah Smith. She traumatized me, attempting to babysit me as a child.
"Of course," I said looking away from the locket and up to mother.
"I was talking to her a few days ago, and I told her about how you were put in Slytherin and she showed me the locket and told me I could buy it for ten Galleons." She explained.
"Thank you," I said looking at the locket and then back to my mother.
"Of course, now off to bed,"
She leaned down to plant a kiss on my forehead, but as soon as her lips touched my forehead I was once again ripped through the time dimension.
I just took my graduation pictures :*)
