A New Family

Bad News

Annabelle was waiting for her mum who was sick
Fortunately the Kingsley family was there
Michael and Daniela had met Annabelle a few times when she came over with Samantha,they hadn't realised how bad things really were
They saw what Samantha had seen ,a lovely well mannered girl in bad circumstances
Annabelle's mum was in a coma for six weeks As her biological family wanted nothing to do with her
The Kingsleys took Annabelle home and she lived with them while her mum was in hospital
They treated her like she was their own daughter
And She and Samantha became like sisters
One day her mum woke up but was barely breathing and was told that her condition was terminal
She asked to see Michael and Daniela
" you have taken to my daughter like she was your own ,you have given her a life I could never give her" said the sick woman
"Therefore I would like to ask you to adopt her after I have gone"
Daniela was in tears
Michael said "wow sure we'd love to take her on as our daughter"
They did have to pass approval from child welfare
But when they looked at Annabelle's previous circumstances ,the Kingsleys were told "you could have her now if you want "

Everything was signed off on and Annabelle's future was now secured

One night Michael took a call
it was from the hospital
The look on his face said it all
He took Annabelle aside and spoke with her
The fact she cried on his shoulder told Samantha and her mother everything
They were weeping but went to comfort Annabelle

The funeral was only attended by Annabelle and her new family
Annabelle was so grief stricken that day she couldn't move and Michael had to carry her
She wept herself to sleep that night
(In a touching gesture that night  Daniela kissed a sleeping Annabelle on the cheek whilst Samantha held her hand)
What appalled Michael was the way  Annabelle was treated by her so-called biological family
Not one of them turned up to her mother's funeral
