Let It Be

"In the eighth grade, my English class had to read Romeo and Juliet. Then, for extra credit, Mrs. Snyder made us act out all the parts. Sal Scaferillo was Romeo. As fate would have it, I was Juliet. Al the other girls were jealous. But I had a slightly different take. I told Mrs. Snyder that Juliet was an idiot. For starters, she falls for the one guy she knows she can't have. Then she blames fate for her own bad decision. Mrs. Snyder explained to me that when fate comes into play, choice sometimes goes out the window. At the ripe old age of 13, I was very clear that love, like life, is about making choices. And fate has nothing to do with it. Everyone thinks it's so romantic. Romeo and Juliet. True love. How sad. If Juliet was stupid enough to fall for the enemy, drink a bottle of poison, and go to sleep in a mausoleum...she deserved whatever she got."

I sat in my car eying the bloody pimple that had decided to form on my forehead. My skin was naturally clear but on occasion it just decides to break out. I was playing around with my hair trying to hide it when I noticed a figure standing near my car. I glanced over and saw Addison staring at me. I raised my eyebrows as she waved, and I sent her a smile and a slight wave back. I grabbed a band-aid from my glovebox and opened it placing it over to pimple. I chuckled to myself seeing that it was hello kitty one. Bloody Meredith. I straightened it out and tried to cover it as best as I could with me hair before signing and getting out of my car heading into work. I walked over to the elevator and squished in as there were so many people already in it.

"I wouldn't wish this on anyone. It's like someone reached in and ripped my guts out." A lady behind me said to who I'm guessing is her boyfriend. I reached over and pressed my floor before standing up straight.

"Baby, you had food poisoning." Her boyfriend replied.

"I had one, lousy restaurant clam. Wait a minute. Where's billing again?" The lady asked.

"The basement." Derek and I said at the same time. I glanced back at him and rolled my eyes before facing forward again. I was walking through the lobby when I noticed Weiss. I smiled and ran over.

"Weiss?" I yelled at the same time as Derek. Weiss smiled at me and I ran over hugging him.

"Evangeline! How are you my little sister?" Weiss asked and I chuckled as he spun me around off the floor.

"I've been good." I replied as he set me on the ground.

"Derek! I've been looking for you!" Weiss said as he and I walked up the stairs towards Derek. We went into a room and sat down. "A month ago, her mother died. Ovarian cancer." Weiss expressed that; his wife's mother had died. My eyes widened in shock.

"Catherine died?" Derek asked and Weiss nodded biting his lip. I sighed.

"I'm sorry." I expressed.

"And Savvy, She's...I mean, you know how close they were. I mean, all she can think about is this breast and ovarian cancer gene." Weiss said and I nodded glancing at Derek.

"BRACA." I mumbled and Derek nodded. Weiss left and went to find Sav and Addison I walked around with Derek.

"Derek, she doesn't have cancer but she's at high risk of getting it, and if she had kids they would too. This is what she wants." I said as Derek and I walked into the meeting room past Izzy to see Sav arguing with Weiss.

"Which gives her up to an 85% chance of getting cancer, Weiss." Addison said and Derek glanced from her to Weiss.

"And a 15% chance she won't." Derek said as he walked around and kissed the top of Savvy's head. I walked over and gave Savvy a hug before sitting at the other end of the table.
