Chapter 2
"I told you to GRAB IT and RUN! NOT leave it behind and RUN!"The man with the scar said.
"I know but-"
"Then why didn't you do it?"
"Because, Marigold's my everything and I love her a lot! And besides you didn't tell me it was her bakery or that we had to kill her parents!" the other man said. The scar faced man slammed his hand on the table. The light bulb flickered.
"Marigold, Marigold, Marigold! Ever since we started this business all I've heard about is Marigold! Because of this girl we won't get paid and we won't have any food to eat for the next week!" the man sat on a chair."And I don't care about your love life you do what I tell you to do!" The other man groaned and slammed the door behind him after leaving.

Jack ran all the way to Marigold's bakery. The police was investigating the crime scene. He saw Marigold sitting in a corner crying, and ran up to her. She jumped and gave him a huge hug.
"Oh Jack! I'm so glad you’re here!"She busted out, “my-parents!"She busted into tears again.
"There, there the police will find the murderers, I'm sure of it," Jack said wiping her tears. He had never seen Marigold like this. In all the 18 years they've been together, this was the first time he saw her cry. An officer came up to them. It was the same man who got Marigold out of the storage room.
"Hello, I'm Gruff Down. I'm in charge of this case, “he said, “Are you Marigold Baker? Let me just tell you I used to love their cakes." Marigold looked at him with disbelief. What type of a police man is he, she thought. He saw her reaction and apologized. Gruff noticed Jack standing there with his arm wrapped around her shoulder. "You are....?"
"Jack. I'm a friend of Marigold. Our fathers were childhood friends," he replied. Gruff looked at him suspiciously.
"Where were you between 10:00 and 11:00 am?"
"I was at home reading, when all of a sudden Mr. Winfred was screaming outside our house. We asked him what happened and he told us what had happened in the bakery. As soon as I found out I ran here as fast as I could,” Jack said.
"We?"
"My father and I. My mother died when I was born."Gruff nodded at turned to Marigold.
"Marigold, did your parents have any enemies or do you have any enemies?" Gruff inquired. Marigold nodded.
"No, in fact, we were friends with everyone. No one hated us," she said through sobs. Gruff had some questions he had to ask in private, so he asked Marigold if they could speak alone. Marigold agreed and they went to her house to talk leaving Jack behind. Jack insisted on coming with Marigold but she said that she would be fine. They both sat in her living room facing opposite from each other.
"Ms. Baker, this Jack, is your boyfriend or just a good friend?"Marigold looked at him in shock. Did this man really think that we were together, Marigold thought.
"NO! He is my best friend, nothing more than that! What an awkward question!"
"Next question, are you sure you don't have any enemies? Do you suspect anyone?"The officer asked.
"I don't think so. I don't understand why anyone would want to kill my parents! But they were really tensed. Every time I asked, they would shrug it off, “She said bursting into tears again. He handed her a tissue.
"I understand how you feel," he said patting her back. He still remembered the day when his parents died. It took him months to get over it. "Where were you when this all occurred?" She told him everything that happened in the morning.
"Okay, thank you for the information. If we find out anything else, I'll inform you," saying that Gruff left. When he opened the door, he found Jack standing there, with his ear pressed to the door. Gruff said nothing and walked away.
