Mistykit squeaked and flung herself onto Emberkit.
"Attack Emberstar!" She yowled. Bluekit and Ivykit followed her, swatting at Emberkit with clumsy paws.
"IvyClan meeeeeting!" Ivykit yelled. "I've killed Emberstar and I am now Ivystar!"
"No!" Bluekit yowled, tackling her brother. "I'm going to be leader!"
The two of them were wrestling on the nursery floor, squealing.
"Kits, keep it down," Bluefeather meowed softly. Her blue eyes looked full and tired. Ivykit staggered to his paws and took s few steps.
"Ouch!" He squeaked. "I've stepped on a thorn!" A little pearl of blood glistened on his pad. Bluefeather swooped him up and rasped her tongue over his paw.
"Ack! Mother! I'm almost an apprentice!" He whined, squirming in the blue she-cats grip.
"Not yet, little one. Two moons to go!" Bluefeather purred.
"Ivystar's lost a life!" Mistykit yowled as soon as Ivykit tumbled from their mothers paws. "Attack him while he's weak!"
The four littermates battered at the dark brown tabby, squealing with delight. Mistykit broke free and landed sprawling outside the nursery.
"Eek!" She screeched. Something ice-cold and damp soaked into her belly fur. "I'm drowning!"
"It's just snow, mouse-brain!" Emberkit giggled, throwing herself into the white solid liquid. Bluekit and Ivykit followed, mewling with joy as they scrambled around on the thick white snow. Mistykit's teeth chattered. She giggled, her breath turning into frosty white puffs in the swirling, silver air.
"Watch out!" Rainfeather called from the nursery. "You'll get greencough!"
Emberpaw's green eyes widened. Squeaking, she bounded back into the warm nursery. Mistykit pushed through the thick strands of ivy and clambered into the warmth of her mothers mossy nest. Ivykit and Bluekit squashed in between her and Emberkit, their pelts cold against Mistykit's. Purring, she drifted into a deep sleep.

"Ivypaw, you will now be known as Ivyfart." Mistykit meowed from a jagged rock. "MistyClan values your stupidity and obnoxiousness."
"Ivyfart! Ivyfart!" Bluekit and Emberkit chanted in between fits of laughter. Ivykit scowled and stuck out his tongue at Mistykit.
"Let's play Catch the Fox in the snow!" Emberkit squealed.
"Yesss!" The others agreed.
"Mistykit's the fox!" Bluekit yowled.
"I was the fox last time!" She protested.
"Were not!"
"Were to!"
"No-"
"Attack her!" Bluekit yowled. Mistykit screeched and bolted off into the brilliant white clearing. She dodged warriors padding around and almost banged into Tawnyflower, the deputy.
The camp entrance! Mistykit thought, looking behind her at her littermates. They were a long way off. She turned around and sprinted toward the thorn barrier. The hard-frozen ground was bumpy and smoothed out with the paw steps of many BrightClan cats before her. The forest was huge! Mistykit stared in awe as she emerged out of the thorn barrier.
"There she is!" She heard Ivykit screech behind her. Mistykit kept running.
Suddenly, her paw stepped onto something slippery. With a startled screech, she collapsed and drifted over the freezing surface.
"Mistykit!" Emberkit yelled from a long way away. "You're on the ice! You're on the frozen lake!"
Mistykit carefully got to her paws. She trembled, and not just because of the cold. Too scared to move, she stared with her wide light blue eyes at her three littermates waiting at the shore.
"Step toward us slowly!" Ivykit yowled. Mistykit obeyed him, the sparking ice only just letting her stand stably.
"Keep going! I think it's safe!"
"We're not allowed to be out here!" Bluekit whimpered. "Imagine of Bluefeather saw us now!"
Mistykit was a few fox lengths from the shore. Her pads were numb and cold. All she wanted to do was go back to the nursery and sleep. She breathed a lots agh of relieve as her paw crunched in the snow. It felt good to be back on solid ground. Her heart pounded in her ears, she was afraid the others might hear it.
"Kits! What are you doing out here?" A cry rang from the thorn barrier. Sure enough, it was Rainfeather. And she was mad.
"I can't shit one eye without having to tell you four off!" She hissed. "If you were apprentices, I'd make you remove ticks from the elders for a day!"
Mistykit stared at her paws.
"Or, in fact, should I tell Hazelstar to apprentice you a moon late?" Bluefeather's eyes sparkled angrily.
"No!" Ivykit protested. "Please don't!" He pleaded.
"We'll be good, I promise!" Emberkit mewed.
"Come inside." Bluefeather growled.
Mistykit trailed after her, tail and head drooping. Anything but having to wait three moons to be apprenticed! Two were enough.

Mistykit watched the silvery flakes drift down into the thick snow through the ivy.
"It's snowing again!" Bluekit whined.
"We haven't had this much snow in moons." Bluefeather murmured. "New-leaf isn't far away. But if it doesn't stop snowing soon, we'll have an extra long leaf-bare."
Mistykit could see she was worried. The snow was already almost a tail length high.
"Go back to sleep, Bluekit and Mistykit. It'll be fine."
Mistykit curled up against Emberkit and shut her eyes. Her heart was glowing with happiness despite the seemingly ever-lasting snow. How nice it is to have such a lovely family! She thought. I just wish I'd met Stormblaze.
Little did she know, that her family would soon be torn apart with death and hatred...
