BACKGROUND: So I was watching Shane and Ryan on Buzzfeed Unsolved, as one does. It was the episode about the real Annabelle doll. Now I've read up on the true story before but it's been a while. So far a while that I didn't know about Newsies. I was at the history part where Ryan talks about the doll and he said the girl who haunted the doll was a girl who died on the property at the age of seven. I remembered this part but what I did not remember was the girl's full name... Annabelle Higgins.
HEADCANNON: Race had a little sister named Annabelle (y'know? Anthony and Annabelle?). She died at the age of seven and Race's parents blamed him because they were playing together out in the field her dead body was found in. Then he ran away and became a newsie while her demonic spirit stuck around and possessed a raggedy Anne doll later on in the 1900s. This could be why he smokes so much, he's smoking to forget.
