"YOU STUPID GIRL! GET BACK HERE!" Gethen screams after me.
I snicker and keep running.
In one hand I hold a big chunk of his blonde hair which has been dyed a hot pink with sparkles and in the other, my dagger.

Gethen continues to scream after me, but I keep running.
I turn a corner and run smack into something.
I quickly scramble up, and look into the face of Vespera's.
She glares at me, her piercing blue eyes trying to penetrate my skull.
A flicker of fear flies through my mind, before I get an idea.

I smirk and step behind her, just as Gethen flies around the corner.
They smack into each other and both crumble to the ground.

I laugh and keep running, but before I can get far a hand grabs my neck.
I turn my eyes up to the tall scarred man holding me up by my neck.
I try and fight him, but Brant just throws me to the floor and pulls out a melder.

He zaps me, and my mouth opens in a silent scream.
I should have used my dagger when I could've!
My body goes limp and I can't move.
He smirks at me and just shoots me again.
The jolt zings through my body, and my vision blurs for a moment.
I'm used to pain.
I breath and live pain.

When it returns, I see three menacing figures standing above me.
Vespera, Gethen, and Brant.
All of them have large evil smirks on their faces.
"Payback tiiimmmeee!" Gethen snickers.
Then he kicks.
And the other join in.

My shins, my stomach, my head, my back, everywhere.
Each kick takes my breath away and makes my vision blurry.
I will not cry, I will not cry!
They kick and kick until the pain is almost unbearable.
Then it stops.

I slowly blink open my eyes, and wince.
Everything is bruised and battered and hurts.
My father stands with his arms crossed in the doorway.
"Get up! You'll be late for school!"
He growl's before stalking out.
School.

I get up.
Slowly.
I shower, put on a long-sleeved, hooded, black tunic and black leggings, and a pair of black combat boots.
And a black cape.
Of course.
Then I pull the hood over my head and let my hair hang in my face, before grabbing a black pair of gloves and slipping them on.

Now every piece of skin on me is covered.
No one will see the big purple welts and bruises.
Next, I grab my bag and leap to Foxfire.

After several classes, lunch finally comes.
I normally sit by Trey, but today I choose a dark corner and sit by myself, using my ability to make it even darker in the corner.

After I finish eating, I head on to detention.
Trey sits in his usual place and I sit next to him.
"Why didn't you sit by me at lunch?"
He ask, his eyes alight with hurt.
"Sorry." I mumble, not explaining.
"What are you wearing?" He asks after a moment.

I shrug, and he squeezes my arm.
He must see my wince for he grabs my arm and rolls up my sleeve before I can stop him.
"Trey!" I exclaim as he gasps in horror at the large bruises.
"What are these?! What happened?!"
He cry's, standing.
The teacher has stood also.

She walks towards us, and I try to yank my arm from Trey, but he won't let go. He shows them to Lady Alexine against my protests.
Then I finally break away.

I skid out of the room and run down the hall, but before I can get any where, a kid sticks out their foot and trips me.
I see the smug face of Stina before I hit the ground and just before I render consciousness, I hear Stina mutter,
"Stupid phantom freak."
