[Seiryuu's point of view]
After calming myself down at the rooftop, I took the stairs down to the cafeteria and was approached by my new classmates.
"Seiryuu! Are you okay? I already scolded that dirty bastard for his actions, so he will not disturb you anymore," Haruko said, and I smiled in gratitude. She also told the teacher about what he did and the teacher switched Kazuma's seat with another guy.
"Thank you so much, Haruko," my eyes watered with appreciation for what she did. She simply giggled and waved it off before heading to the field to play badminton with her group.
After she left, I headed to the vending machine to get myself a packet of chocolate milk. When I turned around, there stood Kazuma with his hands in his pockets, and he looked like he had something to say.
"Hey, um, I just want to apologise for what I did earlier. It was really uncool to do that and I will surely reflect on my actions. I hope you accept my apology and we can be friends again," he ended his speech with a bow and I pursed my lips.
"I don't know what to say but okay, please don't ever do that to anyone else as well," I said and he nodded with a grin.
He strode off when the bell rang and I slowly made my way up to my classroom as well, sipping the last bit of chocolate milk left in the packet and throwing it into the bin.
When I made it to my classroom's level, a huge crowd gathered in front of my class and there were screams and yells mixed among the crowd.
I made my way to the front of the crowd and gaped at the sight ahead of me.
Keiji and Kazuma are fighting and exchanging blows, while Bokuto-san trying to stop the fight.
When Kazuma's fist was about to collide with Keiji's jaw, everything fell into slow motion. I charged towards the two guys and as his fist is nearing, I held his arm tightly to stop it from reaching Keiji.
"What's going on?" I asked with frustration and pushed his arm away. Keiji clenched his jaw and Bokuto-san took the opportunity and quickly drag him away before he could do anything more.
"A-are you okay, Kazuma? What happened?" I asked with concern as his nose was bleeding and his shirt was tainted with drops of blood.
"I'm fine. I don't know what happened too, that madman suddenly charged towards me and hit me," he huffed in annoyance and the crowd slowly dispersed.
Everyone returned to class and prepared for lessons and the attention on Keiji and Kazuma soon died down.
Towards the end of the last lesson, Haruko suddenly turned around and faced me. "Seiryuu, do you have any idea on what club to join?"
I tilted my head and asked, "Club?"
"Yeah! We have the basketball club, volleyball club, art club and many more! Have you decided on one yet?" Haruko asked with her hands clasped together.
I let myself think for a few moments before answering Haruko's question with another question, "Hm, what club are you in, Haruko?"
"The girls' volleyball club! I'm playing as a libero and am currently on the school team," she answered proudly and I nodded, processing her answer in my brain and suddenly remember Keiji explaining to me about the different positions of volleyball at the park.
"Then I'll join the volleyball club too," I answered with a smile and she cheered loudly that earned a glare from our maths teacher.
The bell rang, syndicating it was the end of the lesson. Everyone cheered and began to make their way out of the class. Kazuma still looked really mad and I could not help but apologise.
"Kazuma, I'm sorry for what happened earlier," guilt filled my tone and he raised a brow.
"How is it your fault?"
I took in a deep breath and quickly replied, "Nothing!" 'I nearly exposed myself,' I facepalmed.
Then, Haruko skipped her way towards me and chirped, "Seiryuu, let's go sign you up for the club! I'll be explaining to you about the members of the club and everything you want to know!"
With a smile, I walked with her to the teachers' office and took a club application form to fill in. The teacher asked me a few questions and after answering all of them, he announced, "Alright, you're officially a member of the volleyball club. Report to practice in an hour okay?" I bowed and left the office with my new friend, Haruko.
Throughout the time, Haruko explained to me about the members of the club, but I only took note of some players.
Like the official setter, Mizuki-senpai. She is a third year and from what Haruko said, she sounded like a mean person. I made a mental note to steer clear from her way.
Next, Haruko mentioned one of the nation's top 3 spikers is in the team. Her name is Sora, and she is a third year.
Time passed by fast and while walking towards the sports hall, we were greeted by a few first years who were setting up the net and rolling out trolleys of balls.
"Oh, the girls' sports hall is under renovation, so for the time being, we'll be sharing with the boys' team," Haruko stated and I simply nodded as an acknowledgement.
The coaches for the girls and boys team arrived shortly after us and after greeting the coaches, we warmed up before heading to the court to practise.
"The third years are held back by their teachers for an announcement, they should be here any minute," the warmed up libero answered my question that I did not ask aloud.
"Try serving," she tossed a ball to me and I caught it single handedly. Then, I saw a few players from the team doing a serve that included a jump. I observed a little more before copying what they did.
Haruko was already on the other side of the court, preparing to receive my serve. From the corner of my eye, I could see Keiji and his team mates staring at me, probably because I was a new girl.
I toss the ball up, doing the footwork precisely before swinging my hand and come into contact with the ball. The ball travelled at a fast speed across the court and I landed on the wooden floor, my eyes still following the ball and as it was about to land, it changed direction. Haruko did not touch the ball and she was silent for a moment before exclaiming.
"Nice serve!"
I beamed and was honestly taken aback by my skills. Just then, footsteps could be heard and a group of girls headed into the sports hall, and a few guys were behind them.
'They are the third years,' I gulped. They looked scary and strong, not to mention, tall!
While the female third years were warming up, the coach called me and I took long strides towards him. "Yes, coach?"
"Although you're a new member, I still need to ask, what position do you want to play as?"
My eyes darted to Keiji as he repeatedly set the ball up for the spikers and an answer popped into my mind.
"I want to play as a setter!" I beam, satisfied and confident with my answer.
Just then, the official setter of the team overheard while running past me. She halted in her tracks and I made eye contact with her.
She glared down at me, as if shooting daggers through her eyes. With one hand on her hip, she growled, "Excuse me?"
