Asuna

As I settled into my seat in Professor Scott's class, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation. Today was no ordinary day—the girls were talking about the return of someone who was a powerful mage and respected teacher at the academy. Rumors swirled about his exceptional abilities and his relentless pursuit of knowledge across the realms.

Midway through the lecture, the door swung open. It was so sudden that I felt goosebumps, and a tall figure stepped inside. The room hushed, and all eyes turned to the newcomer. His presence commanded attention, and whispers of admiration rippled through the room. He entered with an air of confidence and a commanding presence. His eyes scanned the room, searching for a focal point, and unexpectedly, they locked with mine. Heat rose to my cheeks as I quickly averted my gaze, hoping to blend back into the sea of eager students. There was an air of mystery surrounding him, and his exceptional abilities were spoken of in a reverent whisper. Everyone got up and greeted the guy with respect.

Little did I know that my attempt at anonymity had caught his attention. With a mischievous glint in his eyes, he strolled toward my desk, his footsteps echoing through the silence of the classroom.

"Ah, a new face in our midst," he announced, his voice smooth and melodic, capturing the attention of everyone. "Asuna, isn't it?"

I swallowed hard, feeling the gaze of my classmates now directed toward me. Nodding nervously, I mustered a timid response. "Yes, that's correct." I looked up to meet his eyes and said, "How do you know my name?''

A knowing smile played on his lips as he continued, "Since you're new here, Asuna, why don't you grace us with your knowledge? Can you explain the fundamental principles of spellcasting?"

I was confused at first because he ignored my question about my name, like, why would he suddenly appear and have the guts to ask me, who does he think he is?

My heart raced as I struggled to find my voice. I was merely a fledgling student, still trying to grasp the basics. How could he expect me to articulate the intricacies of spellcasting in front of the entire class? and neither the professor nor the students were willing to push the guy away.

But there was a glimmer of determination in this guy's eyes, as if he sought to test me and push me beyond my limits. The room held its breath, waiting for my response.

Summoning all my courage, I met his gaze and spoke with unwavering determination. "Spellcasting is the manipulation of magical energies through incantations, gestures, and focus. It requires a deep understanding of the underlying principles and the ability to channel one's own essence into the desired outcome."

A murmur rippled through the classroom, a mixture of surprise and admiration. He was undeterred by my modest answer and smiled approvingly. "Very well, Asuna. A commendable effort for someone so new to our halls. Let this be a reminder to us all that learning is a journey, and every step counts." And then he took Professor Scott's place and resumed the class.

As he continued the lesson, weaving tales of his own experiences and sharing profound insights, I couldn't help but be captivated by his charisma and wisdom. It was as if the magical world came alive through his words, and I hung onto every syllable.

After the class ended, my classmates dispersed, leaving me alone at my desk. It was then that a fellow student approached me, her eyes wide with curiosity. "Hey," I said. I looked at her and said hello, and then she continued, "Do you know who that was?" She whispered excitedly. I shook my head. "That was Prince Tristan, one of the most powerful mages in the realm; he knows literally everything, such as swordsmanship! He rarely teaches, but when he does, it's always something extraordinary."

My heart skipped a beat as the realization dawned on me. The man who had challenged me in front of the class, the one who had ignited a mixture of embarrassment and determination within me, was none other than a professor in the school—not only that, he was a prince! A freaking royalty, which I thought didn't exist in this world.

"Oh, I didn't know I
was new to this world," I said with a low tone.

"It's okay, well, hi, I'm Nicole, and I have the power of wind." I looked at her and smiled. She seems nice though.

"Hi, I'm Asuna, and I still have no idea what my powers are. Well, I was literally clueless until my mother got me to this school."

"Well, it's okay, I'm here to help you from now on; it's been 7 months since I started this school, but I get along with some of the students, so are we friends?" She pulled her hand forward toward me. I was a bit skeptical, but I had a nice positive feeling about her, so she wouldn't be a threat to me. I shook her hand and smiled, "Sure, why not?"

As I made my way through the corridors, the encounter with Prince Tristan replayed in my mind. There was a newfound intrigue and a connection that seemed to have sparked between us, even if it was born out of a moment of potential embarrassment.

Little did I know that this encounter was only the beginning of a journey filled with unexpected twists and revelations that would test the boundaries of duty and desire.

And so, with Prince Tristan's eyes lingering in my thoughts, I embarked on a path that would intertwine our lives in ways I could never have imagined it would be. I'm glad I met Nicole, and she made arrangements so I could be her roommate, and she seems to have a high status in the school. Hopefully, I'll survive throughout the year.

This academy is filled with demons, fairies, mermaid warlocks, and a bunch of other weird creatures, even wolf shifters! Anyway, I hope everything is going to be fine.
