Tiffany

"Mommy!" My son, DJ yelled. He ran up to me as soon as I opened the door. I smiled and picked him up. "Hi, baby!" I said, kissing him all over his face. "I missed you." He tells me. "I missed you, more papa!" I said to him.
My name is Tiffany Ariel Martinez. I'm 25 years old and I live in Oakland.  I have a 4 year old son named Darian Mateo Gutierrez Jr. He was named after his father. I'm from Los Angeles, but I decided to pick everything up and move. My family still lives there. I just needed to get away from them. That's a whole different story for another time.
"Where's daddy?" I asked my 4 year old. "I'm in here, babe!" My baby daddy shouted from the living room. I picked DJ up, held him on my hip, and made my way towards the living room. When I got in there, I saw the father of my child playing on his PlayStation. It looked like fortnite. I most likely wasn't getting any attention tonight.
"So, how was Vegas?" Darian asked. I took a sip of my wine. "It was so much fun. Other than the fact that my wallet was stolen." I said. "Did you find it?" He wanted to know. "I found it but my money was gone." I told him.
Darian was not only the father of my 4 year old son, but he was also the love of my life. We've been together for 10 years now. Yes, we've been together since we were 15. That's such a long time to be with somebody, I know. We've been through so much. He made me sick sometimes, but I wouldn't trade him for anything or anybody else in the world. Him and DJ were my 2 reasons to keep going.
"Oh hell naw. I would've set everything on fire." Darian says, cutting up his steak. I laughed and shrugged. "I mean, I'm not really stressing over it. Im just glad I got my wallet back. Plus, whatever money I lost, I can get back." I said, slicing DJs steak into smaller pieces.
I was an exotic dancer. My stage name was Coco. That's also one of the reasons why I haven't talked to my mother in almost 5 years. She's never even met DJ. My mother disowned me because she refused to have a stripper as a daughter. Those words came out of her mouth. She even went as far as cutting off my twin siblings, Joel and Annalise, simply because they chose to continue staying in contact with me. It broke my heart.
"I think we should talk." Darian says, as soon as I got back in the bedroom. "About what?" I asked. Darian was in bed, waiting for me to join him. "I feel like we should just do it." My man tells me. I look at him like he's crazy. "Do what?" I say. "We should just get married already, baby!" He says. "Excuse me?" I said, putting my hand on my chest. "You heard me. We've been together for a decade. We should just do it. I'm tired of waiting." He says. "I don't know what to say." I stammered. "How about 'yes'." Darian says, getting down on one knee and pulling a ring box from his pants pocket.

"Jacob, I'm home!" I said, putting my duffle bag down on the hardwood floor. I love wooden floors. Anyway, I had just gotten home from my girls trip. I was exhausted and all I wanted to do was lay up and relax. It was too quiet and Jacob knew that I was coming home.
I went to the kitchen to see if he'd be in there. Nothing. I checked the living room. Still nothing. When I went into the bedroom, my mouth dropped to the ground. I was absolutely speechless.
There were red and white roses draped all over our bed and the floor. I loved it, don't get me wrong but my OCD was asking me who was gonna clean this all up. I made my way over to the bed and saw that there was a note on my pillow. "Change into that leopard print dress that I love. Then meet me in the backyard. Love you mama xoxo." I smiled as I put the note down. I knew exactly what dress he was talking about. I was gonna take a 10 minute shower, just to make him wait a little bit longer. (Outfit below: ignore the purse.)

I ended up taking a 15 minute shower

I ended up taking a 15 minute shower. When I bring my waterproof speaker in the shower with me, only Lord knows how long I'm about to be in there. Anyway, I dried off my entire body and then put on my body butter. I brushed my 30 inch weave and got dressed. Next, I did my makeup. Since I was only going in my backyard, I decided to do a light beat. Finally, I slipped into my Dior sandals. Lastly, I sprayed my entire body with perfume. Then, I made my way downstairs.

When I got to the backyard, I was absolutely speechless

When I got to the backyard, I was absolutely speechless. I've been speechless this entire afternoon. This man never failed to surprise me. He gets it right each and every time. It was the little things that mattered to me most.
"Took you long enough." Jacob says from behind me. I turn around to see him standing there, staring at me. "How long have you been standing there?" I asked. He inches closer and closer towards me. "Long enough." He says. He was wearing a white button up, the first three buttons were unbuttoned, jeans, and a pair of fresh white socks.
"Damn, you look even better in that dress now than when you first wore it." Jacob says, pouring 2 glasses of wine. I blushed. He was the only person I knew that could make me blush like a teenaged girl. "Well, I've gained weight since the last time I wore this dress. But thank you babe." I said. "Stop. I hate when you talk down on yourself. You're beautiful." He says to me.

I woke up feeling extremely sick. Like, I had to throw up or something. "Xavier, wake up." I said, shaking my fiancé. He woke up quickly. "What's wrong, baby?" He asked. "I don't feel too good." I told him. "What you mean? Like nauseous?" He said. I nodded my head. "You feel like you about to throw up?" Xavier questioned. "Yes." I say, getting up from the bed and running to the toilet.
"How do you feel now?" Xavier asked, handing me a glass of water. "I feel better. Thank you, baby." I said. I took a sip of my water. Then, I realized something important. "My period was supposed to be coming this week." I said. I unplugged my phone and unlocked it. Then, I opened my period tracking app. I gasped. "What, babe?" Xavier says. "My periods 2 weeks late." I said, now nervous.
Xavier ran to the store to buy me a pregnancy test. I was so nervous. I wasn't sure I was ready to be a mom. I mean, not to sound cocky or anything but if I were pregnant, Xavier and I could definitely afford a baby. We've talked about kids and babies were definitely something we wanted.
"Okay, baby. I got your pregnancy test." My fiancé says, handing me the clear blue pregnancy test. I took a deep breath and made my way towards the bathroom. Part of me was definitely nervous. But, another part of me was prepared and hoping that I was pregnant. Xavier was the love of my life, and I couldn't see myself having a baby with anybody else.
When I got back into the room, Xavier was sitting on the bed, biting down on his bottom lip. He must've been just as nervous as I was. He saw me and hopped up with the quickness. "Well?" He says, walking over to me. I sighed deeply and showed him the positive pregnancy test. "I'm definitely pregnant." I said to him. Before I could say anything else, I was swept off my feet. I let out a sigh of relief. I was so happy.
