This is Mattia's "backstory" Incase people were wanting to know.
See, Mattia's been raising Dante ever since his ex girlfriend, Rose, gave birth to him. It was his son, and he was there for his girlfriend. He was proud to be a father, but their situation was too tight and stressful on his girlfriend. She apparently didn't even want to have Dante, but she only said this till after giving birth.
She ended up leaving Mattia with Dante.
After she left, Mattia wanted to make sure to take care of Dante the best he could.
He even got a high paying office job and has been promoted since and is quite wealthy.
Although, he still misses his ex and has a hard time.
He has a fear that Dante will eventually leave him like she suddenly did. That's why he wants to protect Dante, make sure he's safe, and is happy.
He would probably lose it if he lost Dante
