Although you had heard a lot about Amy's colleagues, but you had never met any of them as of yet. There was a party being held for everyone in her precinct and seen as everyone else was bringing their partners, Amy decided now was a good time to let her work family learn about who you were. The two of you had been dating for over a year but she liked to keep her private and work life apart, but as they were her friends, now it seemed right to introduce you to them.

When you entered the party, Amy dropped your hand and took a step away from you, anxious to be seen with you. She took herself to a corner, avoiding her colleagues, you kept a small amount of distance as you didn't want to push her boundaries. After a few minutes, you realised that you needed to talk to Amy about what was going on. You pulled her away from the crowd, needing to talk to her about what was going on.

"You're acting nervous, are you okay?" You questioned.

She looked at you with wide eyes, rather scared by your question as it meant she had to be a bit more honest.

"I'm scared," she whispered. "None of them know that I'm with anyone, let alone a woman."

You offered her a gentle smile. "Are you scared of them being homophobic?"

Amy shrugged her shoulders, a pained expression on her face, not certain how the hell she was truly feeling or what was actually causing it.

"I don't know. I'm just scared of what they will think."

"Your boss is a gay man and your other colleague is a bi woman, you don't need to worry about them. If anyone you work with would have a bad reaction, they would have by now," you explained. "If you aren't ready to tell them, we can leave, or I'll get a cab home and you can stay. Whatever you want to do I will support you through."

"I'm just scared if they see us together, what they'll think," she whispered.

"Let them see. It's not like we're doing anything wrong," you smiled. "What do you want to do, Amy?"

She took a second before offering you a weak smile, holding out her hand to you.

"I'm ready to tell them about the woman I love."

You took her hand and let her lead you to her work friends to finally get to know who they were.
